Definitions
- the present invention relates to a tap used as a practicable closing means for packaging materialized in plastic bags housed inside a cardboard box and those with an automatic closing system.
- the object of the invention is to achieve a structurally simple, consequently economical tap, which also offers an optimal barrier effect both against environmental oxygen and other gases, reducing their access to the interior of the container as much as possible, as against the tendency at the exit of the interior of the container of the aromas and other gases that tend to detach from the product contained therein.
- the tap that is recommended is of special application in bag-type containers used in the commercialization of wine.
- bag-in-box plastic, bag-type containers, housed in a cardboard box, commonly referred to as "bag-in-box", have the advantage over conventional and rigid containers, such as for example bottles, while in the latter and once the opening and partial consumption of the
- SUBSTITUTE SHEET for example wine
- the remaining product comes into contact with an oxygen-rich atmosphere, so that oxidation occurs, with the consequent deterioration thereof, which does not happen with bag-type containers, where as it is produced
- the extraction of the wine implies a parallel deformation of the bag, with reduction of its effective volume, so that throughout the consumption of its content no air enters the bag, and consequently the wine also does not come into contact with the oxygen.
- bag-type containers are provided with a rigid neck, which is generally attached to the bag itself by heat welding, and so that said rigid neck configures a kind of bushing in which a tap or valve that allows the controlled dispensing of the content, when necessary.
- Manual taps have as a fundamental problem their complexity of handling, especially due to the need to use two hands for the opening and closing maneuvers of the same, but in return they generally offer greater structural simplicity, since some of them are constituted by less pieces, in front of four, five and even
- SUBSTITUTE SHEET (RULE 26) six that present the automatic taps, that is to say those that do not require a manual maneuver to close it.
- both the faucets of one type and those of another of those mentioned are usually manufactured in polyethylene, a relatively permeable material, which allows the entry of environmental oxygen into the container, as well as the exit to the outside, and consequently loss , of gases and aromas that come from wine and other contents.
- the tap proposed by the invention fully and satisfactorily solves the above-mentioned problem, so that with a very simple structuring, with only two pieces and the neck welded to the bag, it offers the best performance of automatic faucets, including seal of guarantee and double security closure, with respect to those that entails a notable reduction in costs, being also significantly increased its barrier effect both against oxygen and against the aforementioned aromas, water vapor and other gases, and its safety.
- SUBSTITUTE SHEET (RULE 26) This position can be called transport since it will be maintained until the moment in which the dispensation begins for what is necessary to break and then detach the aforementioned seal, an act that will allow axial displacement until the respective neck and tap gates enter in contact, position that will give way to the contents inside the tap and consequently to the outside of the bag by opening it. This position is reversible at the will of the user, if he intended a prolonged storage after consumption began.
- the faucet body Inside the said neck, the faucet body, also cylindrical, is established, closed by its lower base, so that the body and neck form a closed and continuous inner base with the obvious barrier effect referred to above, being a displacement of the tap itself, axial with respect to the neck, is necessary to establish communication with the inside of the bag, specifically through the holes in the faucet body that form a perimeter alignment on its side wall and that in the second or transport are closed by the neck that surrounds it.
- the impermeability of the neck-tap assembly is important, since the insulation of the contents with the outside is maximum, mostly with double wall between content and outside, which is of special interest if it is taken into account that in the manufacture of these taps the polyethylene is totally or partially involved, which, as is known, is quite permeable to
- SUBSTITUTE SHEET (RULE 26) oxygen, water vapor and aromas. Since in this position the tap is always closed and free of content, any loss, contamination and dripping are avoided.
- the body of the tap hollow and open at its upper extremity, incorporates a lateral spout between the latter and the perimeter wall, a spout that is normally closed by the effect of a cylindrical shutter, fitted tightly inside the body and axially movable, equipped with a side window that in normal conditions is raised with respect to the said spout, that is to say, facing it in a closed situation, while when the shutter moves towards the inside of the bag, said window is facing to the liquid outlet pipe, to be poured into any
- the shutter will preferably be made of elastic thermoplastic material, and is single piece with a cap-shaped membrane conveniently attached to a ring that tops the upper and free end of the tap body, a ring from which a pair of radial wings emerge, in diametral opposition and angularly offset with respect to the pouring spout, which constitute supports for two fingers of the hand, while with a third one it is pressed on the pulsating membrane to axially move the shutter and achieve the coincidence of the window / hole thereof, with the spout of the pouring of the tap, pulsation that will remain while it is desired to keep open.
- the said shutter internally covers the surface of the body of the pop-up tap of the neck on which it is mounted, with which said shutter also collaborates decisively in the potentiation of the barrier effect mentioned above.
- the neck welded to the bag so far has had only one purpose, the connection of a tap or valve tightly.
- the neck that is now recommended has a greater interaction with the tap, because it has been studied for three perfectly differentiated positions, being the most
- SUBSTITUTE SHEET (RULE 26) important and different from not allowing content access to the tap, which means a better defense of: tightness, impermeability, inviolability and contamination, with the additional advantage of being reversible at the user's discretion between the transport and consumption positions.
- Figure 1 shows, according to a schematic representation in side elevation and in section, an automatic shut-off tap made in accordance with the object of the present invention, mounted on the corresponding bag-type container and in position that could be called transport.
- Figure 2. Shows a cross-sectional detail of the assembly represented in the previous figure, in accordance with the cutting line A-B of said figure.
- Figure 3 shows a representation similar to Figure 1, in which the tap is already in use, but is closed.
- Figure 4.- Shows, a representation similar to that of figure 3, but in which the tap is open.
- the tap that is recommended is mounted on a cylindrical neck (1) provided at its outer end with a wall (2) to which the area around the intended coupling hole is fixed by heat welding in the classic plastic bag (3), as it happens conventionally, counting said neck with two walloons (4) and (4 '), above the previous one and of smaller diameters, with its free edge (5) crenellated to facilitate the orientation of the tap, the repeatedly mentioned neck (1) being provided on its inner surface with a slight perimeter reduction of its thickness that allows the vertical displacement of the tap over the neck to the two transport and dispensing positions so that it can be move from one to another easily, but that prevents manual removal of the tap outside the neck, using right angles both in the aforementioned reduction, and in the male adjustment ring in the collar the (6) for the interlocking of the valve body (7), capable of adopting two stable positions with respect to the neck, shown respectively in figures 1 and 3, and determined by the existence of three nerves (8) in the body Valve, two of them complementary to the aforementioned
- the valve body (7) is cylindrical, with two sectors of different diameter, is open superiorly but has its bottom (9) closed, in proximity of which and on its side wall incorporates an alignment of holes (10) that allow the passage of the product when the valve body (7) passes from the transport position shown in figure 1 to the use position shown in figures 3 and 4.
- the valve body (7) has in its stepped area a
- SUBSTITUTE SHEET (RULE 26) perimeter wall (11) which, in a transport situation, is conveniently distanced from the wall (4) of the cylindrical neck by means of a strip-seal (12) finished off in the classic rupture fin and consequent tear (13) of the wall (5) a the one that is duly attached, so that said seal prevents axial displacement of the valve body with respect to the cylindrical neck, and its removal to allow such displacement implies evidence that the tap has been tampered with.
- the body (7) is provided with a pipe (14) for the liquid outlet, pipe (14) that is normally kept closed by means of a shutter (15), tubular, cylindrical and open inferiorly, which plays inside the body (7) of the tap and which establishes a tight seal with respect to the latter.
- the shutter (15) has a side window (16), normally displaced with respect to the spout (14), but capable of facing the latter in the situation of opening the tap, so that this position is that of the lower limit of the shutter (fifteen).
- the shutter (15) has a rod at its bottom or upper limb (17), where it is attached with a single piece to an elastic membrane (18), in the form of a spherical cap, and by its free edge it is conveniently fixed to a ring (19) that ends the outer and free end of the body (7) of the tap and from which a pair of wings (20) emerge in diametral opposition for support of two of the fingers of the hand, such as the index and the heart, while the thumb acts, on the middle area of said membrane (18), to move the shutter (15) inwards, specifically towards the limit position in which its window (16) faces the spout ( 14) and the liquid contained in the bag (3) can freely go outside.
- an elastic membrane (18) in the form of a spherical cap
- said shutter is topped by its lower extremity with a slight increase in diameter (22), intended to affect the corresponding edge of the body (7) of the faucet, particularly at level of its intermediate staggering, in order that the pressure favors the hermeticism and at the same time the drip resistance, oversizing that must be small enough not to interfere with the assembly operations of the shutter in the body.
