Abstract
The invention relates to an actuator used to actuate a switch element (12) of an internal combustion engine by means of an electric actuating drive (40) that acts upon the switch element (12) via a gear mechanism. According to the invention, in order to avoid overloading, in particular of the switch element (12), said gear mechanism comprises at least one elastic element (58) that defines, in at least one direction of actuation, the maximum forces or torques at least on the switch element (12).
