Description

CORE FOR GRILL
The invention relates to a core for a grill in which there is a frame manufactured of heat-resistant material, inside the frame there are a fire grate, an ash box and a grill grating.
Cooking food by grilling is a very common cooking method. Particularly in the summer, grilling at summer cottages, terraces and gardens is very popular. Various grilling devices are used for grilling. Lighter devices are portable or movable from one place to another. A lot of grills staying fixedly in place are constructed of stone material, concrete or bricks. The construction of such grills contains a burning space, in which wood, grilling coals or other material is burnt, and above it is installed a grill grating on top of which foodstuffs are placed when grilling. In other words, the maker of the grill prepares the whole grill with all of its parts on the spot. A problem often is that, if the maker is not well familiar with grilling, the operation of the grill can become poor. Usually in grills manufactured in this way, there are no similar control and modification possibilities as in ready-made grilling devices. On the market, there are garden grills and open furnaces made by various manufacturers but, e.g. for a do-it-yourself person, no proper grilling part sold separately is available. To obtain a functional grilling part, the do-it-yourself person has to prepare it himself or to buy a ready-made garden grill/open furnace and to utilise its grilling part.
The object of the invention is to introduce a core for a grill by means of which above disadvantages are eliminated. A particular object of the invention is to introduce a grill core that a do-it-yourself person can utilise directly and use to prepare easily and simply a versatile, controllable and easy-to-use grilling device.
The object of the invention is achieved with a core for a grill which is characterised by what is presented in the claims.
The grill core according to the invention is a unit which is arranged to be set as a whole in the other structure of the grill. When using the grill core according to the invention, the do-it-yourself person prepares the other structure of the grill surrounding the grill core of stone or bricks and makes a space in it which is slightly larger than the grill core. After that, the maker of the grill installs the grill core in the space. It is also possible to install the grill core and insulating material, whereby the insulating material is between the grill core and other material. Then, the do-it- yourself person is able to manufacture a versatile and functional grilling device in an easy and simple way.
A frame of the grill core is advantageously manufactured of steel or other fire-proof material suitable for the purpose, such as of concrete. A frame manufactured of metal has been stove-enamelled or wet-painted with a paint resisting heat well. A frame manufactured of concrete or stone has been finished in some other way than painting. The shape of the frame i.e. casing can be quadrangular, circular or rectangular or some other.
In an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the grill core contains a lifting mechanism of the fire grate for moving the fire grate in the height direction in relation to the grill grating and for adjusting the grilling temperature. When the grill core has been set as a whole in the other structure of the grill, it is important from the viewpoint of functionality that the fire grate can be adjusted. Due to the ready- made grill core, which contains a stepless or stepped adjustment of the fire grate, the end result is a functional and cost-effective grilling device arrangement. As the fire grate can be moved in the height direction, it is possible to change the distance of the grill grating and foodstuffs on top of it from the fire. Because different foodstuffs require different temperatures, this can be taken into consideration when using a grilling device provided with such a grill core and improve the grilling result.
The grill core is a ready-made unit which is easily and simply installed into connection with the other grill structure and implemented. The do-it-yourself person can make his garden grill according to his own plans and leave an opening/space of specific dimensions for the grill core where the grill core will be installed. The grill core is ready to use immediately after the installation. The installation can be done either from the top or from the front.
In addition to do-it-yourself makers of garden grills, the grill core is also intended for enterprises which design and construct courtyards and gardens based on their own or their clients' designs and which manufacture garden grills and open furnaces intended to the garden.
The invention will now be described in more detail with reference to the accompanying figures in which
Fig. 1 shows a front view of a core for a grill according to the invention and part of its internal structure shown with cross lines, Fig. 2 shows a front side view of the grill core according to Fig. 1, and
Fig. 3 shows a top view of the grill core according to Fig. 1.
In the embodiment according to Figs. 1-3, the core for a grill includes a frame 1 manufactured of steel which contains a front wall provided with an opening, three side walls and a bottom part. Inside the frame, there are a fire grate 2 and below that an ash box. In the top part of the frame, there is an opening formed by the top parts of the walls in which is set a grill grating 3. On the edges of the grill grating are fastened upwards-extending lifting handles 4 for facilitating the transfer of the grill grating. The ash box and the fire grate are of steel or stainless steel or cast iron.
Furthermore, inside the grill core there is a transfer mechanism 5 of the fire grate which can be e.g. a screw or a wire cable or other equivalent. In the figures, by rotating a lever 6 included in the transfer mechanism the fire grate can be moved in the height direction by means of a rotating bar/rotating bars included in the transfer mechanism 5 and transfer elements movably fastened in it/them. Hence, the fire grate can be lifted or lowered steplessly, whereby the grilling temperature can be easily adjusted by moving the fire grate and the materials burning on top of it in the height direction in a desired way. In other embodiments, the lifting mechanism can be different and, instead of a mechanical structure, it can be e.g. electric or battery- driven.
In the embodiment according to Figs. 1—3, the grill core is provided with a hinged glass door 7, whereby it is possible to see inside of it. In other embodiments, the grill core can be provided with a hinged solid door or a movable door standing on its own feet by opening which or moving which aside it is possible to add burning material or to remove ashes. Between the grill core and the other grill structure, it is possible to put an insulation layer, such as e.g. fire-proof wool. Furthermore, the grill core contains air inlets 8 which are formed in the rear wall, the bottom plate and the door. Via the air inlets, air is able to access inside the grill core.
As burning material, the device employs mainly wood and grilling coals or some other bio material. The use of gas is also possible by means of a gas coil or some other suitable gas unit.
Suitable accessories for cooking with the grill core according to the invention are already available on the market, e.g. a smoke box, a flame-frying set for flaring fish, a sashlik set, and a cooker with hot plates. A product according to the invention can also be used in canopies/gazebos in which an individualised grill is constructed based on designs. In the product according to the invention, it is possible to add a hood and a required number of chimneys, e.g. two 1-m chimneys with a rain cap.
The grill core can include lifting handles fastened in the frame. By means of the lifting handles, the grill core can be easily lifted, moved and set in place. Equivalently, it can be easily lifted from its place if required.
The invention is not limited to the described advantageous embodiments, but it can vary within the scope of the inventive idea presented in the claims.
