Abstract

A dumpsite refuse processing plant (1) having a separator (2) able to separate a solid fraction of refuse containing no glass or inert materials; a pyrolytic burner (7) able to burn the solid fraction from the separator (2); a fluid-bed gasifier (9) able to burn at least pyrolytic gas and carbon from the pyrolytic burner (7); a vapourizer (10) powered at least partly by gas from the fluid-bed gasifier (9), and able to power a turbine (13) connected to a current generator (14); at least one gas engine (17) connected to a current generator (18) and powered by gas produced by the fluid-bed gasifier (9) and fed first through the vapourizer (10); and a fluid-bed combustor (19) able to burn at least the exhaust gas from the gas engine (17).
