Abstract

Garbage bags enriched with three additives during manufacturing, i.e. oxo-bio- degradable, antibacterial and perfumed substances, give us environmentally friendly litter management, as their degradation time is minimized. On top of it, antibacterial additives protect public health from bacteria being released in the atmosphere, whereas perfumed substances give a sense of cleanliness.

Perfumed - Oxo-bio-degradable - Antibacterial Garbage bags
This invention involves garbage bags manufactured from plastic materials, in different types, colors, forms and sizes.
Thanks to the presence of the oxo-bio-degradable additive in the formulation of the garbage bag , we obtain a controlled degradation ( 2 - 3 years) suitable to the needs of the final product and of the end user ( client) . With the antimicrobial additive we can achieve the limitation of the propagation of the bacteria colonies , which are the result of the degradation of the organic substances.
Sophisticated other antibacterial additives may achieve even the final distraction of the bacteria and microbes.
The type of antimicrobic additive , depends on the health regulations and the desired results to be achieved.
The use of aromatic master batches covers the nasty degradation smell of the garbage.
The usual fragrances for this purpose are vanilla, lemon, lavender, green apple ,e.t.c
The advantages of this invention are : A controlled short time of degradation through the oxo-bio-degradable additive , which favors the environmental protection .
Additionally an enormous advantage of the formulation , is the controlled lifetime of the product , which avoids distraction of the garbage bag before the desired period.
Protection of public health , as bacteria are not released on the environment . A sense of cleanliness , as a pleasant fragrance comes out of the garbage bags.
The row material of the bags is primary or recycled polyethylene based polymer. The above mentioned application is based on a formulation containing three additives, giving the final product unique properties and aimed results.
As an example for a controlled oxo-bio-degradation of a conventional garbage bag, e.g. within one year, we may add 2-3% of additive . We may also add 2% of an antimicrobial additive and 1% of a fragrance master batch. The dosing of the three additives is made usually by gravimetric metering devices .
The said material rates and names are only indicative and do not constitute any chemical composition for the manufacturing of garbage bags. However, such rates depend on the pursued result (e.g. higher rates of oxo-bio-degradable material result for shorter degradation periods).

Claims

l.The production procedure of the garbage bags , has the following characteristics : A . During the plasticization (liquidation) of the polymer in the extruder the three additives are metered by gravimetric dosing equipment in the desired quantities. B. The three additives act as follows :
- Fragrance additive gives pleasant odor ( perfumed polyethylene based additive).
- Oxobiodegradable additive gives to the product quick degradation properties, as well as controlled lifetime ( oxo-bio-degradable masterbatches) .
Antibacterial additive gives protection against propagation of bacteria . (antimicrobial masterbatch )
2.According to Claim 1, garbage bags are characterized that during their production, the said materials are added and mixed with the raw material (primary or recycled polymer or any other plastic material having the same properties, which may be used for the manufacturing of garbage bags), in order to give perfume, oxo-bio-degrading properties so that the garbage bag is degraded within a selected and controlled period of time and antibacterial protection.
3. According to Claims 2- and 3, garbage bags are characterized that they transfer such properties - characteristics to the end product (perfume, oxo-bio-degradation, antibacterial protection).
