Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention
Reference will now be made in detail to embodiments of the present invention, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein like reference numerals refer to the like elements throughout. The embodiments are described below in order to explain the present invention by referring to the figures. FIG. 1 is a block diagram illustrating a configuration of a detour route search apparatus 100 according to an embodiment of the present invention.
The present invention is based on a navigation system that includes a Global Positioning System (GPS) module. The GPS module may receive location information from at least one GPS satellite to compute the navigation system's location in real time.
In addition to location information according to a movement of a moving object, the GPS module may provide direction angle information.
The detour route search apparatus 100 according to an aspect of the present invention may simultaneously display an existing route and a detour route among various routes to a destination of the moving object, so that a user may compare the various routes and easily select the user's desired route. Hereinafter, a configuration of the detour route search apparatus 100 will be described.
Here, the detour route search apparatus 100 of FIG. 1 is based on a module that is directly or indirectly associated with the present invention, which may be applicable to other drawings in the same way. In this instance, blocks illustrated in this specification may be designed into a module. The module denotes a single unit that may perform a particular function or operation. The module may be embodied as hardware or software, or may also be embodied as a combination of hardware and software. A receiver 110 may receive destination information of the moving object in a navigation terminal performing a geographical guidance.
As described above, a current location of the moving object may be computed based on location information that is received from a GPS module, whereas end destination information of the moving object may need to be directly input from the user.
Therefore, the user may input destination information associated with a location that the user travels to. The route input may be performed using various types of schemes such as a character input scheme using a touch pad or a keypad, a voice input scheme using voice, and the like. Descriptions related thereto will be made with reference to FIG. 2.
FIG. 2 illustrates an initial execution process when operating a search detour search apparatus according to an embodiment of the present invention. As shown in FIG. 2, functions of the apparatus may be provided using a menu.
When the user clicks on a menu mapped with a detour route search function using the input route, optimal route information associated with destination information may be displayed. Generally, the optimal route information may be shortest distance information. According to an aspect of the present invention, text information, distance information, travel time information, cost information, and the like corresponding to the route information may be provided together.
An extractor 120 may extract, from a database, location information corresponding to the received destination information. The database accumulates a large amount of geographical information. When the destination information is input, the database may provide the location information corresponding to the destination information.
The extractor 120 may extract, from the database, location information corresponding to the user's desired destination information and generate at least one route information based on the extracted location information corresponding to the destination information.
Specifically, according to an aspect of the present invention, a computing unit
140 may compute at least one route information based on the location information and current location information that is extracted via the extractor 120. Also, according to an aspect of the present invention, it is possible to provide various types of route information based on location information extracted via the extractor 120. In addition to information associated with a shortest distance route corresponding to the destination information, it is possible to provide detour route search information corresponding to the destination information.
The at least one extracted at least one route information may be used when a group information generator 150 combines the at least one detour route search information and the shortest distance information among the route information to thereby generate map group information.
The shortest distance information may be information associated with the shortest distance among the at least one route information. Generally, the shortest distance information may be route information that is displayed when a detour route search function is not executed. Specifically, the shortest distance information denotes information associated with the shortest distance from the current location of the moving object to the destination.
The detour route search information may include recommended route information that is connected to the location information corresponding to the destination information among the detour information. When the moving object is traveling, it is possible to avoid a traffic jam or make a section of a detour route using the detour route search information. Since at least one information may exist, the detour route search information may be displayed simultaneously with the shortest distance information for each operation. A display unit 130 may display the map group information that includes at least one route information, based on the extracted location information corresponding to the destination information.
The display unit 130 may display only route information corresponding to shortest distance information among route information that is extracted via the extractor 120. However, according to an aspect of the present invention, it is possible to display the map group information that is generated using the group information generator 150.
As described above, the map group information may provide single grouped route information by combining the detour route search information and the shortest distance information among the route information corresponding to the destination information.
The extractor 120 may extract, from the database, each image information that is mapped with the shortest distance information and the at least one detour route search information. The display unit 130 may simultaneously display each mapped image information.
Also, the extractor 120 may extract at least one of distance information, travel time information, and cost information corresponding to each of the shortest distance information and the at least one detour route search information. The display unit 130 may add, to each mapped image information, at least one of the distance information, the travel time information, and the cost information to display the same.
Specifically, the display unit 130 may display the shortest distance information and detour route search information that is selected from the at least one detour route search information, which is configured to display both image information and related information stored in the database.
As described above, according to an aspect of the present invention, there may be provided a method that may simultaneously display detour route search information and shortest distance information among route information that is extracted from a database so that a user may easily compare the detour route search information and the shortest distance information to select the user's desired route. The method will be described with reference to FIGS. 3 through 5.
FIG. 3 illustrates an example of displaying route information according to an embodiment of the present invention, FIG. 4 illustrates a first display example of map group information according to an embodiment of the present invention, and FIG. 5 illustrates a second display example of map group information according to an embodiment of the present invention.
As shown in FIG. 3, according to an aspect of the present invention, when a user inputs destination information and then selects a route search function, it is possible to extract location information corresponding to destination information using the extractor 120, generate route information based on the location information, and display at least one route information via the display unit 130.
In this instance, the user may directly select the user's desired route from the at least one route information. When the user selects the desired route, map group information may be displayed as shown in FIG. 4.
Specifically, according to an aspect of the present invention, map group information that detour route search information and shortest distance information corresponding to existing route information is combined may be displayed together. As described above, image information, distance, information, travel time information, or cost information corresponding to each route information may also be displayed together. As described above, as shown in FIG. 5, when a plurality of detour route search information exists, it is possible to click on a button capable of displaying subsequent detour route search information and thereby display the subsequent detour route search information together with existing shortest distance information.
Also, according to an aspect of the present invention, it is possible to add a previous step button capable of directly moving to a previous step. Through this, when the user mis-selects a menu or desires to move to the previous step, the user may click on the previous step button to thereby move to the previous step through a one click.
Also, according to an aspect of the present invention, it is possible to additionally construct a button with a close function capable of suspending a step of embodying the above function to move to an initial step.
