Abstract

Disclosed is a reader/writer (10), which is provided with an antenna (31) for communicating with an IC card (2), and a control means for controlling data communication with the IC card (2) by using the antenna (31). The reader/writer is also provided with a solenoid (60) for driving the antenna (31). The control means changes the position and the range for forming a dead region by drive-controlling the solenoid (60) so that relative positional relationship between the antenna (31) and the IC card (2) is changed.
