Abstract

A recording head includes: a slider having an opposing face opposing to a recording medium, a plurality of side faces which are brought into contact with the opposing face, and a tip end face as one of the side faces; a recording element having a main magnetic pole for generating a recording magnetic field, an auxiliary magnetic pole, and a magnetic coil; and a core having a reflection face for reflecting a light flux introduced from a first end to a second end in a direction different from the introduction direction and a light flux converging unit which has been drawn in such a manner that the cross section area orthogonal to the direction from the first end to the second end is gradually reduced for generating a light by converging the reflected light flux while the light propagates toward a second end; and a clad which traps in the core. The recording head further includes: a light spot generation element which is fixed adjacent to the recording element with the second end facing the magnetic recording medium; and light flux introduction means which is arranged parallel to the slider and introduces the light flux from the first end into the core. A line connecting the first end and the second end of the light spot generation element is inclined with respect to the opposing face of the slider.
