Abstract
A bias voltage supplied to a transmitting amplifier of a radio transmitting apparatus is varied. At the time to amplify a preamble with higher electric power than that for a data field, the bias voltage is switched to a level at which a saturation electric power is provided so that the preamble is amplified using an optimum back-off value from the saturation electric power of the transmitting amplifier. At the time to amplify the data field, the bias voltage is switched to a level at which a saturation electric power is provided so that the data field is amplified using an optimum back-off value from the saturation electric power of the transmitting amplifier. A saturation electric power of the transmitting amplifier in the radio transmitting apparatus is varied in accordance with a change in electric power of a transmission signal, thereby preventing a reduction in efficiency of the transmitting amplifier for amplifying a transmission signal in which electric power varies.
