[18] As those skilled in the art would realize, the described embodiments may be modified in various different ways, all without departing from the spirit or scope of the present invention.
[19] Like reference numerals designate like elements throughout the specification.
[20] FIG. 1 to FIG. 3 are respectively a front view, a rear view, and a side view of an
AMOLED display chip card having a removable adaptor according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention.
[21] Referring FIG. 1 to FIG. 3, an AMOLED display chip card according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention may include at least two or more semiconductors 20 and 22 formed on a front surface 11 of a transparent substrate, an opacity substrate, or semi-transparent substrate 10.
[22] At least one or more of the semiconductor chips 20 and 22 has a size of about
12.5X18mm according to the international standard as a financial chip, and the other has contact portions 20a and 20b exposed on the front surface 11 of the substrate 10 which may function to interface in contact with an external terminal.
[23] The AMOLED display chip card has an AMOLED display panel 30 for playing contents. The AMOLED display panel 30 may have key input units 30a, 30b, 30c, and 3Od for commanding various functions which formed in a touch type icon thereon. Accordingly, only a single of a financial card may provide various functions. The at least two or more semiconductor chips 20 and 22 are physically separated from each other with a gap 13 in which the at least one or more semiconductor chip 22 is electrically connected to a printed circuit substrate 28 to form a driving circuit 100 for driving the AMOLED display panel 30.
[24] The substrate 10 of the AMOLED display chip card 1 may be composed of a plastic material such as transparent, opacity, or semi-transparent PVC and it may be covered with a transparent protective layer 15 for the AMOLED display panel 30 while the light may be transmitted except for the contact portions 20a and 20b of the front surface thereof.
[25] The transparent protective layer 15 may be composed of a plastic material such as flexible PVC film.
[26] The AMOLED display 30 includes two electrodes 31 and 32, and a light emission layer 36 disposed therebetween, one of the two electrodes injects holes and the other injects electrons into the light emitting layer. The injected electrons and holes are combined to form excitons and the excitons emit light as discharge energy. Because the organic light emitting device is a self-emissive display device, an additional light source is not necessary such that the organic light emitting device has lower power consumption, as well as a high response speed, wide viewing angle, and high contrast ratio such that the bright images may be realized in the dark place, the bright place, and the fields.
[27] Since the AMOLED display panel 30 is not supported by a hard chassis such as a metal but it is supported by the flexible substrate 10 covered with the transparent protective player 15 so that it may be possessed by the pocket or the purse and may be protected to be electrically isolated from a magnetic field.
[28] Also, according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the AMOLED display panel 30 is an active matrix with the structure that the electrodes 31 and 32 and the light emission layer 32 is formed on the thin film transistor display panel 28, and the thin film transistor display panel 28 further includes a driving voltage line 43 transmitting a driving voltage as well as a gate line and a data line.
[29] According to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, the driving voltage line 43 transmitting a driving voltage as well as a gate line and a data line may be electrically connected to the at least one semiconductor chip 20 and 22 by means of a flexible printed circuit (FPC circuit) so that the chip card may have a more flexibility.
[30] Meanwhile, according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, a power unit to execute the applications stored to at the memory 50 of the at least one chip 20 and 22 and to supply the power for outputting the contents such as video, audio, and UCC through the AMOLED display panel 30 may be provided.
[31] For this purpose, the substrate 10 has a square groove 12a on the rear surface thereof from which a thin film type contact terminal 41 is slidably input and output. A contact terminal 151 of an adaptor 100 is connected to the thin film type contact terminal when it is output.
[32] At this time, the thin film type contact terminal 41 may be used to electrically replenish a power charging unit 70 such that the AMOLED display panel 30 may display data during a predetermined time after the adaptor 100 is removed.
[33] The power charging unit 70 may be formed in a thin film type pattern and the driving circuit Ia integrated to the at least one semiconductor chip 20 and 22 may further include a regulator to control a charging so that it may be maintained at a power saving for a stand-by mode.
[34] The power charging unit 70 is integrated into the AMOLED display chip card 1 because that the AMOLED display 30 is an active light emitting element of small power consumption.
[35] Such a power charging unit 70 is separated from other constituent elements by a gap
13 to easily radiate heat from it and to protect the other constituent elements against heat.
[36] Since the power charging unit 70 is integrated into the AMOLED display chip card 1, it may supply a power source for executing various applications on the AMOLED display chip card 1 although the adaptor 100 is departed from the AMOLED display chip card 1.
[37] Now, how to use an AMOLED display chip card having a removable adaptor according to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention is described in detail with reference to FIG. 4 and FIG. 5.
