Abstract

 本発明により、炭素繊維の繊維軸方向に平行な複数の皺をその表面に有し、走査型プローブ顕微鏡を用いて測定する炭素繊維の表面の前記皺の間隔が120~160nmで、表面の皺の深さが12~23nm未満で、平均繊維直径が4.5~6.5μmで、比表面積が0.9~2.3m2/gで、密度が1.76g/cm3以上の炭素繊維が20000~30000本収束されてなる炭素繊維ストランドであって、前記炭素ストランドのストランド引張り強度が5900MPa以上、ストランド引張り弾性率が300GPa以上、張力9.8Nで巻取ったボビン上のストランドのストランド幅が5.5mm以上、走行中の炭素繊維ストランドに張力9.8Nを付加して3本のステンレス棒を通過させるストランド割れ評価方法においてストランド割れが観察されない炭素繊維ストランドが開示される。
