Abstract
A fuel cell system by which sound caused by initializing a valve can be prevented from being experienced as noise by those around it. The fuel cell system comprises in an oxidization gas piping system a control valve and a control device for controlling the control valve. The control device initializes the control valve during the period from when the stop of the operation of the fuel cell system is instructed until the operation is ended. The initialization of the control valve is permitted when the air flow rate is equal to or lower than a predetermined value. An opening degree of the control valve after the initialization is stored in the control device, and at the start of the next operation of the fuel cell system, the stored opening degree is used as an initial value for the control of the control valve. The operation of a DC/DC converter is continued during the initialization of the control valve.
