Abstract

Description
A STOPPER BLOCK
Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to a dismountable tiltable cab suspension stopper block.
Background of the Invention
The stopper blocks used in the state of the art are used in vehicles whose cabs are tiltable from the front. When it is needed to reach the pieces of the vehicle under the cab for maintenance or for other purposes, the cab is tilted to the front and thus it is possible to reach the pieces. When the cab is tilted to the front, a stopper block is used to prevent the cab from tilting too much to the front. During tilting of the cab, the stopper block obstructs movement by contacting the pieces on the frame and restricts forward movement of the cab and ensures that it stops. Stopper blocks together with the body members both perform the function of stopping and enable coupling of the whole stopper block unit to the body. By time, the stopper block wears out due to excessive friction and load, and thus can not perform its function adequately and it needs to be replaced. However replacing the stopper piece on the block which is one of the pieces that wears out the most during use is a laborious task and the suspension arm and the torsion rod should be dismantled in order to replace it. For this reason, even though it is easy to use, it causes difficulties during maintenance and mounting. The present invention provides great convenience in replacing the piece. Thus it enables saving both in time and cost.
In the patent documents No. EP0355346A2, EP0636532A1, JP57077273,
KR20020082290, applications within the state of the art, technical information and explanations have been provided regarding a cab suspension stopping system.
In this technique, a system is disclosed which enables the tilted cab to stop.
However the stopper in the said applications is mounted fixedly to the base of the body. For this reason, when the stopper needs to be replaced due to wearing out by time, difficulties are encountered in dismounting this piece.
Summary of the Invention
The objective of the present invention is to realize a cab suspension stopper block in trucks with tiltable cabs belonging to the class of heavy commercial vehicles, which enables limiting the downward suspension movement of the cab and which also provides ease in mounting and maintenance.
Detailed Description of the Invention
A cab suspension stopper block realized to fulfill the objective of the present invention is illustrated in the accompanying figures, in which,
Figure 1 is the front perspective view of the mounted state of the cab suspension stopper block.
Figure 2 is the exploded view of the cab suspension stopper block. Figure 3 is the perspective view of the cab suspension stopper block with a base plate.
The components in the figures are numbered individually where the numbers refer to the following:
1. Stopper block
2. Body base
3. Body strut
4. Stud 5. Stopper
6. Suspension arm
7. Torsion rod
8. Base plate
9. Welded nut
10. Abutment 11. Body support arm
The inventive stopper block (1) essentially comprises a body base (2) and a body strut (3) which are mounted to the frame and which support the stopper (5) during stopping process; a stud (4) which enables connection of the stopper (5) to the body base (2); a damper that is a suspension arm (6) which prevents the cab from moving fast during tilting of the cab in order to reach the pieces of the vehicle under the cab and which ensures a slow tilting; a torsion rod (7) which provides support during tilting of the cab; a base plate (8) which provides support to the stopper (5) during contact of the cab with the stopper (5); a welded nut (9) which enables fixing of the stopper (5) to the body base (2) and the base plate (8); a body support arm (11) which makes a rotational movement to enable rotation of the cab during its forward movement; and an abutment (10) which serves as the axis that enables the rotational movement of the body support arm.
The body is an "L" shaped piece made of the body strut (3) and body base (2) positioned perpendicular to each other. The body base (2) is connected to the frame by means of the base plate (8). The suspension arm (6) coupled to the body strut (3) enables damping of the angular movement of the cab around the abutment (10).
When the cab is tilted, the suspension arm (6) slows down the forward downward movement of the cab and prevents the body support arm (11) from hitting the stopper in a fast manner.
The inventive stopping block (5) comprises a body base (2) that provides support to the said stopper block (1) and a base plate (8) that provides support to the body base (2).
The inventive stopper block (1) is mounted by mounting of the stopper (5) to the stud (4) and then passing the said stud (4) through the slots provided in the body base (2) and base plate (8) and fixing it with a welded nut (9).
The inventive stopper block (1) is locked and fixed upon engagement of the angular surface on the stud (4) with the counterbore at the hole entrance located at the body base (2).
The stopper (5) is fitted over the stud (4) and tightened by means of the threading provided on the stopper (5) in the inventive stopper block (1).
Since the stopper (5) in the inventive stopper block (1) does not contain a fixed stud (4) thereon, it is short, and the distance between the body support arm (11) and body base (2) is sufficient for mounting when the stopper (5) needs to be replaced due to wearing out by time.
