Description

Sawing device and carrying table therefor
The invention relates to a sawing device for sawing a plate comprising sawing means for sawing the plate in different pieces and a carrying surface for supporting the plate.
The invention also relates to a carrying surface for such a sawing device.
Sawing devices for sawing plates, for example granite plates, are known to the person skilled in the art. Such sawing devices comprise a carrying surface for supporting the plate and sawing means, for example a movably mounted circular saw, for sawing of the plate in different pieces. The circular saw is for example movably mounted along a longitudinal direction of the plate to saw the plate in longitudinal direction into two pieces. When sawing plates into different pieces one has to take account of the clearance of the sawing blade. Due to the round shape of the sawing blade and because the sawing is performed at the upper side, one is obliged, depending on the position of the sawing means with respect to the plate, in case of the circular saw more specific the distance between the axis of rotation and the circular saw and the underside of the plate, to saw a little bit further if one wishes to obtain a clear cut extending to the underside of the material. A sawing blade used for sawing plates is for example shown in figure 1. This figure also shows the clearance.
Thereto, in first methods known to the person skilled in the art, regular pauses were used to manually move the pieces away from each other. This way, waste could be prevented between the pieces to be sawn. However, this is time-consuming. Figure 2 for example shows a plate sawn in such a way. First, the plate was sawn in longitudinal direction after which the two resulting parts were manually moved away from each other. Subsequently, the transverse cuts were applied. Figure 2 shows the different sawn parts after they have been brought together again. No loss has occurred between the sawn parts.
In a second method known to the person skilled in the art, the sawing procedure is no longer interrupted to obtain a larger sawing efficiency. The waste between the custom-made parts are seen here as a necessary evil in order to obtain a higher sawing efficiency, caused by an automatic control of the sawing means. Figure 3 for example shows a plate sawn with such a sawing device. Between the two upper and the lower plate, a distance necessary for receiving the clearance has been provided. This distance lowers the maximal reachable efficiency substantially, as explained hereunder.
According to the first method, the percentage of waste with respect to the total percentage could be limited to 15% to 20%. In the second method the percentages of waste are rather between 20% - 35%. In the tables hereunder, by way of example, a comparison is made between the efficiency obtained with the first method and the efficiency obtained with the second method when sawing some often occurring dimensions for plates from a single plate. The orientation of the three custom-made parts 1 , 2 and 3 of this example obtained are shown in figures 2 and 3.

From the example above one can conclude that the difference between the old method and the new method can be for example 8.56%.
Although the second method can be fully independently performed by a known sawing device and consequently allows an increased speed, the amount of material lost increases substantially and the efficiency of sawing reduces substantially. It is therefore an aim of the current invention to provide a sawing device which allows for a more increased sawing efficiency than the second method.
This is achieved according to the present invention with a device showing the technical features of the characterising portion of the first claim.
Thereto, the sawing device according to the present invention is characterised in that the carrying surface is provided with means for moving at least two of the sawn pieces of the plate along a direction which is substantially parallel to the surface of the carrying surface. This way the moving of the sawn pieces can take place automatically such that the sawing does no longer need to be interrupted to create the space for receiving the clearance. This way an important decrease in the time needed can be created. Preferred embodiments of the sawing device are characterized in that the means for moving at least two of the sawn pieces of the plate are provided to move the at least two of the sawn pieces along a splitting distance which is larger or is equal to the clearance of the sawing means. In such a way the clearance of the sawing means are received in the clearance because of which a loss in material is avoided.
Preferred embodiments of the sawing device are characterized in that the carrying surface comprises at least two parts moveable with respect to each other for moving the at least two of the sawn pieces of the plate. Such a carrying surface indeed allows in a simple way to move the sawn pieces out of each other.
Further preferred embodiments are characterized in that the moveable parts are moveably mounted between a first position in which the parts are positioned adjacently along a respective adjacent side and a second position in which the respective adjacent sides have been moved over the splitting distance.
More preferred embodiments are characterized in that the respective adjacent sides in the first position comprise adjacent protrusions. More preferred embodiments are characterized in that the length of the protrusions is larger tan the splitting distance.
The invention also relates to a carrying surface for a sawing device according to the current invention.
Other details and advantages of the sawing device and the carrying surface according to the invention will become apparent from the enclosed figures and description of preferred embodiments of the invention.
Figure 1 shows a side view of a part of the sawing device according to the invention.
Figure 2 shows a top view of a plate sawn according to a method known from the state of the art.
Figure 3 shows a top view of a plate sawn according to another method known from the state of the art.
Figure 4 shows a detail of a carrying surface of a sawing device according to the invention in a first position (closed situation). Figure 5 shows a detail of a carrying surface of a sawing device in a second position (open situation).
Figure 6 shows a top view of a plate of a carrying surface according to figure 4. Figure 7 shows a top view of a plate of a carrying surface according to figure 5.
Figure 8A shows a side view of a few parts used in the carrying surface used in the sawing device according to the invention.
Figure 8b shows a cross-section of a few parts used in the carrying surface used in the sawing device according to the invention.
Figure 8c shows a detail of the side view of figure 8a.
When buying plates, it is advisable to be guided, as much as possible, by the necessary standard dimensions of the customers, which most of the time are (but are not limited to) kitchen manufacturers. Because the most occurring standard width of a kitchen table is 60 cm, it is advisable to buy plates having a height of between 130 and 140 cm. The ideal plate dimensions are 285x130cm. Therefore, a lot of grooves and block sawmills strive towards these dimensions. Often, the granite blocks having these dimensions are somewhat more expensive than the rest since they are more commercially attractive.
These dimensions were by way of example indicated on the figures but are however not necessary for the invention since plates having other dimensions also can be sawn with the aid of the sawing device according to the invention. The pieces which are taken from the plate can also have other dimensions than the dimensions indicated on the figures.
The material of the plate is not necessary for the working of the sawing device. In this way, for example, plates can be sawn from stones such as granite, concrete, etc. but also for example from plates made from wood, etc.
The carrying surface 4 of the sawing device 1 according to the invention, on which the plate 3 is lying beneath the sawing means 2, comprises different parts 11 , 12 which can move away from each other along a sliding direction 8 after which the plate 3 is cut through along a sawing direction, in which the sliding direction 8 preferably lies transversely on the sawing device. Such a method for sawing prevents that waste gets in the middle of the plate.
The parts 11 , 12 preferably are splitable between a first position in which the parts are positioned adjacently along a respective adjacent side and a second position in which the respective adjacent sides have been moved over a splitting distance 9. The plate 3 however does not always need to be split at the same location with respect to eventual cracks or aesthetical defaults. It is also possible that the requested width of the custom-made parts is different from 60cm. Therefore, the granite plate is preferably splitable on almost every location, more preferably more or less in the middle. By providing protrusions 13 at respective adjacent sides in the first position, the splitting of the plate can take place in the middle area of the plate 3, depending on the request, in a free zone of for example about 30cm over the whole length of the surface (Figure 4 and figure 5). When the length of the protrusions 13 is larger than the splitting distance 9, the pieces 6, 7 will remain well positioned and supported (Figure 6 and 7).
Preferably, the protrusions 13 have a shape of teeth engaging each other as shown in figures 4 - 7.
The carrying surface 4 preferably is constructed without using electrical parts such that electrocution is excluded. A sliding system 14 provided beneath the carrying surface 4 for making the moveable parts 11 , 12 of the carrying surface slidable with respect to each other, preferably comprises plastic or metal sliding blocks 15 to keep maintenance low (figure 8). However, use can also be made of bearings.
Preferably, sliding it open and closed Js done against a steady part. This way a larger accuracy is obtained and moving the movable parts is more easily integrated in a sawing program of the sawing device 1. The basis frame, built from square tubes 16 which are oriented with their comerside upwards, guarantee a precise straight movement and an even wear of the sliding blocks 15.
