Abstract
[PROBLEMS] To provide a compound which is useful as a medicinal agent, particularly an insulin secretion promoter or a prophylactic and/or therapeutic agent for a disease associated with GPR40 such as diabetes. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A study was made on the compounds having an agonistic activity on a GPR40 receptor. As a result, it is now found that a thiazolidinedione compound in which a thiazolidinedione moiety is bound to a 6-membered monocyclic aromatic ring through one carbon atom and the aromatic ring is bound to a benzene moiety substituted by a 6-membered monocyclic aromatic ring through a linker or a salt of the compound has an excellent GPR40 agonistic activity. The thiazolidinedione compound can be used as an insulin secretion promoter or a prophylactic and/or therapeutic agent for diabetes.
