Abstract
Disclosed is an organic electroluminescent device having high luminance and low driving voltage. Also disclosed are an illuminating device and a display device, each using such an organic electroluminescent device. The organic electroluminescent device is characterized by containing at least one compound represented by the following general formula (1). (In the formulae, Ar represents a monocyclic or bicyclic aromatic ring or an aromatic heterocyclic ring, each of which contains at least one hydrogen atom; n1 represents an integer of 3, 4 or 5; A represents a group represented by the general formula (A) above and a plurality of A's may be the same as or different from one another; X11 and X12 each represents a nitrogen atom or CR13; R11, R12 and R13 each represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent, but they do not combine together to form a ring; when X11 and X12 are both CR13, R13's may be the same as or different from each other; and at least three of A's bonded to Ar are bonded to carbon atoms of Ar which are adjacent to one another.)
