Abstract

L'invention concerne un procédé permettant de faire fonctionner un moteur à combustion interne (1), ce dernier (1) pouvant fonctionner dans un premier mode de fonctionnement, pour lequel un premier carburant est injecté dans une tubulure d'admission (5), et un mélange d'un premier carburant et d'air alimente une chambre de combustion (3), en vue de faire fonctionner le moteur à combustion interne (1) conformément à un couple de consigne prédéterminé, procédé caractérisé en ce que dans un mode de fonctionnement à protection des soupapes, la quantité du premier carburant est réduite d'une fraction, et une quantité d'un second carburant est injectée, via une soupape d'injection directe, qui est disposée directement sur la chambre de combustion (3), la quantité du second carburant étant sélectionnée de façon que le couple de consigne soit maintenu.
