Abstract

To provide an information recording medium having a rewritable type of recording layer (L0-layer) and a write-once type of recording layer (L1-layer) and also provide a recording/reproducing apparatus used for excellently performing recording/reproducing processes for the information recording medium. The rewritable type of recording layer (L0-layer) has a recording area (TDMA) used for recording, in addition to user information, a part, which can be updated, of management information used for managing the recording and reproducing of the user information in the write-once type of recording layer (L1-layer). In this way, there are provided an information recording medium, which has a write-once type of recording layer and in which management information of the write-once type of recording layer can be readily and efficiently recorded, and a recording/reproducing apparatus for this information recording medium.
