Description
TYING STRAP PARTICULARLY FOR FOOD USE
Technical field
The present invention relates to a tying strap particularly suitable for food use. Background art
Currently, pieces of string tied at their loose ends are generally used as fastening elements in order to keep food tied up during cooking.
Although this solution is widely used, it suffers mainly three drawbacks. First of all, the string, during cooking, especially at particularly high temperatures, can break down and/or transmit to the food foreign smells or flavors, while at particularly low temperatures (for example inside freezers) it loses its albeit limited flexibility.
Secondly, if the knot is not tied correctly, the assigned person is forced to cut the string and take a new piece to be tied again at its ends.
Finally, the string is not elastic, and accordingly once tied it penetrates into the product and deforms it. Disclosure of the invention
The aim of the present invention is to eliminate or at least reduce drastically the drawbacks noted above in known types of tying straps, particularly for food use.
Within this aim, an object of the present invention is to provide a tying strap for food use that is particularly easy to handle and is reusable.
Another object of the invention is to devise a tying strap for food use that has a competitive production cost, so that its use is advantageous also from an economical standpoint.
Still another object of the invention is to provide a tying strap that keeps its elasticity and flexibility characteristics unchanged both at low and high temperatures and is easily washable and reusable.
This aim, as well as these and other objects, which will become better apparent hereinafter, are achieved by a tying strap, particularly for food use, characterized in that it comprises a locking head associated with an elongated and flexible body provided, along its longitudinal extension, with a plurality of abutment elements, which are mutually spaced and can engage said locking head to form a closed loop.
Advantageously, the locking head and the abutment elements are provided with mutual engagement means, which are adapted to contrast the opening of the closed loop. Brief description of the drawings
Further characteristics and advantages of the invention will become better apparent from the description of some preferred but not exclusive embodiments of a tying strap according to the invention, illustrated by way of non-limiting example in the accompanying drawings, wherein: Figure 1 is a side elevation view of a tying strap for food use according to the present invention;
Figure 2 is a perspective view of the tying strap in one of the possible ways of using it.
In the exemplary embodiments that follow, individual characteristics, given in relation to specific examples, may actually be interchanged with other different characteristics that exist in other exemplary embodiments.
Moreover, it is noted that anything found to be already known during the patenting process is understood not to be claimed and to be the subject of a disclaimer. Ways of carrying out the invention
With reference to the figures, a tying strap particularly for food use is generally designated by the reference numeral 1 and comprises a locking head 2, which is associated with an elongated and flexible body 3.
The elongated body 3 has, along its longitudinal extension 100, a plurality of abutment elements 4.
The abutment elements 4 are spaced one another along the longitudinal extension 100 and can engage selectively the locking head 2 to form a closed loop 5.
In greater detail, the locking head 2 and the abutment elements 4 formed on the elongated and flexible body 3 are provided with means for mutual engagement, which are adapted to contrast the opening of the closed loop 5.
According to a particularly important aspect of the present invention, the tying strap 1 is made of a material that is suitable for food use and, more specifically, of a material that can also be heated to high temperatures in contact with food without this operation compromising the cooked food.
It has been found that it is advantageous, therefore, to use as material for providing the tying strap 1 food-grade silicone, which is resistant to temperatures ranging from -500C to +2700C and is also easily washable and reusable.
According to a preferred embodiment, shown in the figures, the locking head 2 is arranged at a first free end 1 Oa of the tying strap 1 and accordingly of the elongated body 3.
The locking head 2 forms in particular an opening 1 1 , which is designed to be crossed by a free end and particularly by the second free end 10b of the elongated body 3.
In this case, the abutment elements 4 comprise a radial expansion with respect to the elongated body 3, which is designed to abut selectively against the edge 1 Ia of the opening 11 formed in the locking head 2. In order to facilitate the mutual sliding of the elongated body 3 with respect to the locking head 2, advantageously the opening 1 1 formed on the locking head 2 is radially deformable in order to allow the forced crossing of the abutment elements 4.
Likewise, the radial expansions also are elastically compressible (in a radial direction) in order to facilitate forced sliding with respect to the
opening 1 1.
Likewise, it is possible to provide, within the same inventive concept, that the locking head 2 be provided with a radial expansion: in this case, the abutment elements 4 formed along the elongated body 3 are constituted by openings that can engage selectively the radial expansion carried by the locking head 2.
In order to facilitate the operations for the sliding of the elongated body 3 with respect to the locking head 2, the locking head 2 conveniently is associated with at least one maneuvering and abutment tab 12. As shown, the locking head 2 can be provided with a plurality of tabs
12, which allow to facilitate the operations for closing and opening the closed loop 5 but also allow to increase the compression surface of the tying strap 1 with respect to the tied food, preventing deformations.
All the characteristics of the invention indicated above as advantageous, convenient or the like may also be omitted or be replaced with equivalents.
The invention thus conceived is susceptible of numerous modifications and variations, all of which are within the scope of the appended claims. In practice it has been found that the invention has achieved the intended aim and objects in all of its embodiments.
In particular, use of the tying strap according to the invention has been found to be extremely advantageous for tying food both during cooking in an oven (a traditional oven or a microwave oven or a fryer) and also as a tying strap for bags to be placed in a refrigerator or to be used to cook food (such as "Cartafata®"), in order to lock films in bowls or pots. In practice, the dimensions may be any according to requirements. All the details may further be replaced with other technically equivalent elements. The disclosures in Italian Patent Application No. VR2007A000137
from which this application claims priority are incorporated herein by reference.
Where technical features mentioned in any claim are followed by reference signs, those reference signs have been included for the sole purpose of increasing the intelligibility of the claims and accordingly such reference signs do not have any limiting effect on the interpretation of each element identified by way of example by such reference signs.
