Abstract

A color sequential display projector capable of projecting a clear image whose white balance is improved and extending the life of a lamp device. In order to simplify a circuit for controlling the drive of the lamp device, the color sequential display projector comprises a light source, a time division color light take-out means including a color wheel divided into color segments, a light modulation means for forming a color sequential display image, and a projection means for magnifying and projecting the color sequential display image. Color segments (6a-6f) are each arranged so as to form a predetermined central angle with respect to the center of rotation of a color wheel (6). The central angle of a color region (1) composed of two or more adjacent color segments (6a, 6b) is equal to the central angle of a color region (2) composed of another color segment (6d) or other two or more adjacent color segments. While the color region (1) and the color region (2) cross an optical path of light which has entered the color wheel (6), the light flux emitted from the light source is increased.
