Abstract

In a display system combining a time sharing display (4) and a liquid crystal shutter glasses (1), the liquid crystal shutter glasses (1) has liquid crystal shutters (17a, 17b) for right and left eyes, and a means for driving the liquid crystal shutters (17a, 17b). The liquid crystal shutters (17a, 17b) for right and left eyes are arranged to cover the right and left eyes of a person wearing glasses. The drive means drives the liquid crystal shutters (17a, 17b) to maximize the contrast ratio, i.e. the ratio of brightness of the time sharing display (4) measured through the liquid crystal shutters (17a, 17b) under shield driving state and the brightness of the time sharing display (4) measured through the liquid crystal shutters (17a, 17b) under transmission driving state, in one arbitrary direction of light transmitting the liquid crystal shutters (17a, 17b).
