Abstract

[PROBLEMS] To simplify a control program, reduce a memory capacity, and inject fuel with timing suitable for an oxygen concentration during intake of the air. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A controlling device for a diesel engine includes an EGR device (13), a cylinder fuel injector (51), and a controller (22) for controlling the injector (51), which is constituted so that one of target injection values is gradually changed to the other target injection value when the target injection value is changed over from the former to the latter value. A normal target injection value and a target spark advance injection value are directly memorized on a single two-dimensional map consisting of a rotating speed and a fuel injection quantity of the engine. The controller determines that it is time to change from one of the target values to the other when an absolute difference value between the current target value and the target value a predetermined time before is a predetermined value or larger, and it advances the injection period to ignite around the compression top dead center based on ignition delay time calculated by a calculating means when the normal target injection value is changed over to the target spark advance injection value.
