Description
Description DECORATION GLASS AND MANUFACTURING METHOD OF
THE SAME
Technical Field
[1] The present invention relates to a decoration glass and a manufacturing method of the same, and, more particularly, to a decoration glass having a multiple print layer formed at the rear of a glass by silk-printing to form at least a portion of the front of a product, including electric home appliances, and a manufacturing method of the same. Background Art
[2] Some electric home appliances, such as air conditioners, washers, and refrigerators, or some furnishing goods, such as wardrobes, have a decoration glass to protect such products from being scratched and improve aesthetic appearance of the products.
[3] The decoration glass has various colors and patterns by forming a multiple print layer at the rear of a glass generally reinforced by heat treatment. Generally, the multiple print layer is formed by a silk-printing method.
[4] FIG. 1 is a sectional view illustrating the structure of a conventional decoration glass having a multiple print layer 2 formed at the rear of a glass 1 by a silk-printing method.
[5] On the assumption that the multiple print layer 2 includes five print layers 2a, 2b, 2c,
2d, and 2e, as shown in FIG. 1, the first to fifth print layers 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d, and 2e having different colors and patterns are sequentially silk-printed at the rear of the glass 1.
[6] First, a screen (not shown), the remaining region of which is filled excluding a region corresponding to the pattern of the first print layer 2a, is fixed to the rear of the glass 1 by a print frame (not shown), and, in this state, ink is squeezed onto the screen (not shown) using a squeezer (not shown) to form the first print layer 2a at the rear of the glass 1.
[7] After the first print layer 2a is dried, the second to fifth print layers 2b, 2c, 2d, and 2e are sequentially silk-printed at the rear of the first print layer 2a in the same manner as the first print layer 2a.
[8] As a result, the multiple print layer 2 is formed at the rear of the glass 1, whereby the decoration glass is manufactured. Disclosure of Invention Technical Problem
[9] In the conventional decoration glass manufactured by the silk-printing method, however, as shown in the drawing, the first to fifth print layers 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d, and 2e, constituting the multiple print layer 2, are overlapped, while the first to fifth print
layers 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d, and 2e have almost the same area, with the result that ink spreads at the edge of the multiple print layer 2 at the time of drying the respective print layers 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d, and 2e, or the edges of the respective print layers 2a, 2b, 2c, 2d, and 2e do not coincide with one another due to setting errors of the print frame (not shown). Consequently, the edge of the multiple print layer 2 is not neat and clean after the completion of the silk-printing process.
[10] In recent years, therefore, the front of the decoration glass at the edge thereof has been covered with a sash 3, as a post process after the completion of the silk-printing process, such that the unneat edge of the multiple print layer 2 is not visible from the front of the decoration glass.
[11] However, the addition of the sash 3 more complicates the manufacturing process of the decoration glass. Technical Solution
[12] Therefore, it is an aspect of the invention to provide a decoration glass having a multiple print layer silk-printed at the rear of a glass to form the front of a product, including electric home appliances and furnishing goods, the decoration glass being constructed in a structure in which the edge of the multiple print layer is processed neatly, and therefore, it is not necessary to cover the edge of the multiple print layer with an additional member after the completion of the silk-printing process, and a manufacturing method of the same.
[13] In accordance with one aspect, the present invention provides a decoration glass including a glass and a multiple print layer constituted by N print layers formed at the rear of the glass by silk-printing to form at least a portion of the front of a product, including electric home appliances, wherein the multiple print layer includes a first print layer silk-printed at the rear of the glass and N-I print layers sequentially silk- printed at the rear of the first print layer, and the first print layer is formed at an edge of the rear of the glass, and edges of the N-I print layers are hidden by the first print layer when viewing the glass from the front thereof.
[14] Preferably, at least one of the N-I print layers and the first print layer have the same color and pattern.
[15] Preferably, the first print layer has a color and pattern different from the N-I print layers.
[16] In accordance with another aspect, the present invention provides a method of manufacturing a decoration glass to form at least a portion of the front of a product, including electric home appliances, by silk-printing a multiple print layer constituted by N print layers at the rear of a glass, the method including silk-printing a first print layer at an edge of the rear of the glass, and sequentially silk-printing N-I print layers at the rear of the first print layer, wherein the first print layer is silk-printed at the edge
of the rear of the glass, and the N-I print layers are silk-printed at the rear of the first print layer such that edges of the N-I print layers are hidden by the first print layer when viewing the glass from the front thereof.
[17] Preferably, the N-I print layers are silk-printed at the rear of the first print layer such that outlines of the N- 1 print layers are located between an outline and an inline of the first print layer.
[18] Preferably, the width between the outline and the inline of the first print layer is set to be 2 mm to 3 mm.
[19] Additional aspects and/or advantages of the invention will be set forth in part in the description which follows and, in part, will be obvious from the description, or may be learned by practice of the invention. Advantageous Effects
[20] In the decoration glass and the manufacturing method of the same according to the present invention, the first print layer, of the multiple print layer provided at the rear of the glass, is silk-printed at the edge of the rear of the glass, and the other print layers of the multiple print layer, excluding the first print layer, are silk-printed at the rear of the first print layer such that the edges of the other print layers are hidden by the first print layer when viewing the glass from the front thereof.
[21] Consequently, the edge of the first print layer is prevented from overlapping with the other print layers, and the other print layers, excluding the first print layer, are hidden by the first print layer when viewing the glass from the front thereof, although the edges of the other print layers are not neat due to the overlap of the other print layers.
[22] Therefore, it is not necessary to cover the edge of the decoration glass with an additional member after the completion of the silk-printing process. Description of Drawings

[32] Reference will now be made in detail to the embodiment of the present invention, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein like reference numerals refer to like elements throughout. The embodiment is described below to explain the present invention by referring to the figures.
[33] A decoration glass 10 according to the present invention is provided at the fronts of products, including electric home appliances such as air conditioners, washers, and refrigerators, furnishing goods, such as wardrobes, and buildings to protect the products and improve aesthetic appearance of the products. As shown in FIGS. 2 and 3, the decoration glass 10 includes a glass 20 reinforced by heat treatment and a multiple print layer 30 formed at the rear of the glass 20 by silk-printing, thereby exhibiting various colors and patterns when viewing the decoration glass 10 from the front thereof.
[34] For reference, FIG. 2 illustrates an example in which the decoration glass 10 is mounted at the front of an air conditioner A. When the decoration glass 10 is applied to a refrigerator or a wardrobe, the decoration glass 10 may be mounted at the refrigerator or the wardrobe to cover the front of a door of the refrigerator or the wardrobe. Also, the decoration glass 10 may be provided to entirely or partially cover the front of a product.
[35] In this embodiment, the multiple print layer 30 includes a first print layer 31 silk- printed at the rear of the glass 20 and second to fifth print layers 32, 33, 34, and 35 sequentially silk-printed at the rear of the first print layer 31. Consequently, the multiple print layer 30 includes a total of five print layers 31, 32, 33, 34, and 35.
[36] Here, the first to fifth print layers 31, 32, 33, 34, and 35 may have different colors and patterns. Alternatively, some of the first to fifth print layers 31, 32, 33, 34, and 35 may have the same color and pattern. When viewing the glass 20 from the front thereof after the multiple print layer 30 is printed at the rear of the glass 20, all the colors and patterns of the respective print layers 31, 32, 33, 34, and 35 are visible, whereby the decoration glass 10 exhibits various colors and patterns.
[37] Meanwhile, the multiple print layer 30 is constructed in a structure in which the first print layer 31 is provided at the edge of the rear of the glass 20, and the second to fifth print layers 32, 33, 34, and 35 are provided at the rear of the first print layer 31 such that the edges of the second to fifth print layers 32, 33, 34, and 35 are hidden by the first print layer 31 when viewing the glass 20 from the front thereof. Consequently, the edge of the decoration glass 10 is neat, and therefore, it is not necessary to cover the edge of the decoration glass 10 using an additional member after the multi print layer 30 is provided at the rear of the glass 20 by silk-printing.
[38] More specifically, when the second to fifth print layers 32, 33, 34, and 35 are formed at the rear of the first print layer 31 such that the edges of the second to fifth print layers 32, 33, 34, and 35 are hidden by the first print layer 31 when viewing the glass 20 from the front thereof, after the first print layer 31 is provided at the rear of the glass 20, as in this embodiment, the edges of the second to fifth print layers 32, 33, 34, and 35 are hidden by the first print layer 31, and therefore, the edges of the second to fifth print layers 32, 33, 34, and 35 are not visible from the front of the glass 20, although ink spreads at the edges of the second to fifth print layers 32, 33, 34, and 35 at the time of drying the second to fifth print layers 32, 33, 34, and 35, or the edges of the overlapped print layers 32, 33, 34, and 35 do not coincide with one another due to setting errors of a print frame (not shown), with the result that the edges of the overlapped print layers 32, 33, 34, and 35 are not neat.
[39] Consequently, the decoration glass 10 exhibits a neat appearance without performing a post process to cover the front of the decoration glass 10 at the edge thereof with a sash, as in the conventional art, after the completion of the multiple print layer 30, whereby the manufacturing process is simplified, and it is possible to directly mount the decoration glass at the front of a product without performing a post process.
[40] Of the second to fifth print layers 32, 33, 34, and 35, the fifth print layer 35 is provided to constitute the ground of the multiple print layer 30. Consequently, the fifth print layer 35 has a coloring area larger than those of the other print layers 32, 33, and 34. In this embodiment, the first print layer 31 has the same color and pattern as the fifth print layer 35. As a result, both the first print layer 31 and the fifth print layer 35 constitute the ground of the multiple print layer 30 when viewing the decoration glass 10 from the front thereof after the completion of the multiple print layer 30.
[41] Hereinafter, a process to manufacture the decoration glass 10 with the above-stated construction will be described in detail.
[42] The manufacture of the decoration glass 10 according to this embodiment is completed through a simple process to silk-print the multiple print layer 30 at the rear of the glass 20. The simple process includes a first operation to silk-print the first print layer 31 at the edge of the rear of the glass 20 and a second operation to sequentially
silk-print the second to fifth print layers 32, 33, 34, and 35 at the rear of the first print layer 31.
[43] At the first operation, the first print layer 31 is silk-printed at the edge of the rear of the glass 20. At this time, a screen (not shown), the remaining region of which is filled excluding the edge thereof, is fixed to the rear of the glass 20 by a print frame (not shown), and, in this state, ink is squeezed onto the screen (not shown) using a squeezer (not shown) to form the first print layer 31 at the edge of the rear of the glass 20. Preferably, the screen (not shown) is constructed in a dense structure having a size of 150 to 300 meshes such that the ink can be uniformly applied throughout the first print layer 31. FIGS. 4 and 5 illustrate the structure of the glass 20 at the rear of which the first print layer 31 is silk-printed.
[44] After the first print layer 31 is dried, the second operation is carried out. First, as shown in FIGS. 6 and 7, another screen (not shown), the remaining region of which is filled excluding a pattern of the second print layer 32, is fixed to the rear of the first print layer 31, and, in this state, the second print layer 32 is silk-printed using ink corresponding to the color of the second print layer 32. At this time, the second print layer 32 is silk-printed at the rear of the first print layer 31 such that an outline 32a of the second print layer 32 is located between an outline 31a and an inline 31b of the first print layer 31. After the second print layer 32 is dried, the third to fifth print layers 33, 34, and 35 are sequentially silk-printed and dried at the rear of the second print layer 32 in the same manner as the second print layer 32.
[45] In the decoration glass 10 manufactured according to this embodiment, therefore, the edges of the second to fifth print layers 32, 33, 34, and 35 are hidden by the first print layer 31 when viewing the decoration glass 10 from the front thereof, although the ink spreads at the edges of the overlapped second to fifth print layers 32, 33, 34, and 35, or the edges of the overlapped print layers 32, 33, 34, and 35 do not coincide with one another, with the result that the edges of the overlapped print layers 32, 33, 34, and 35 are not neat.
[46] In the second to fifth print layers 32, 33, 34, and 35, the edges of which are overlapped, an edge print defect range is approximately 1 mm to 1.5 mm. Preferably, therefore, the width between the outline 31a and the inline 31b of the first print layer 31 is set to be 2 mm to 3 mm to sufficiently cover the edge print defect range.
[47] FIG. 8 is a sectional view illustrating the structure of a decoration glass 10 according to another embodiment of the present invention. In this embodiment, a first print layer 31' has a color and pattern different from the second to fifth print layers 32, 33, 34, and 35 of a multiple print layer 30'.
[48] Consequently, the first print layer 31' independently constitutes a frame when viewing the decoration glass 10 from the front thereof, and therefore, it is possible to
obtain more various decoration effects through the decoration glass 10.
[49] Although a few embodiments of the present invention have been shown and described, it would be appreciated by those skilled in the art that changes may be made in this embodiment without departing from the principles and spirit of the invention, the scope of which is defined in the claims and their equivalents. Industrial Applicability
[50] The present invention is capable of preventing the edge of the first print layer from overlapping with the other print layers, and hiding the other print layers, excluding the first print layer, by the first print layer when viewing the glass from the front thereof, although the edges of the other print layers are not neat due to the overlap of the other print layers. Therefore, it is not necessary to cover the edge of the decoration glass with an additional member after the completion of the silk-printing process. Consequently, the present invention has industrial applicability.
