Abstract

A technique enabling easy generation of a γ-conversion rule. An image display comprises a display unit having pixel circuits including light-emitting elements and adapted for displaying an image in response to supply of a display image signal corresponding to each pixel circuit to the pixel circuits, a converting unit for γ-converting the input image signal corresponding to each pixel circuit according to a table and generating a display image signal, and a first setting unit for setting a target value of a parameter relating to the drive of a pixel circuit according to a specific input gray-scale value. The image display further comprises an acquiring unit for acquiring a measured value of the parameter while the light-emitting element in the pixel circuit corresponding to the specific input gray-scale value is made to emit light according to the output gray-scale value corresponding to the specific input gray-scale value and a second setting unit which maintains the table if the measured value is within a predetermined value range with respect to the target value and adjusts the table so that the measured value and the target value may fulfill a predetermined relation if the measured value is not within the predetermined value range.
