Abstract

　自発光型の発光素子を備えた表示装置において、輝度の視野角特性を向上させることが可能な表示装置を提供する。自発光型の発光素子である有機ＥＬ素子（発光部１６Ｒ，１６Ｇ，１６Ｂ）とブラックマトリクス層ＢＭとを設けると共に、（１１）式および（１６）式を満たすようにする。視野角αが０°から６０°までの範囲内では、ブラックマトリクス層ＢＭによる遮光に起因した発光部１６Ｒ，１６Ｇ，１６Ｂ（有機ＥＬ素子）からの表示光Ｌのケラレが、全く生じなくなる。一方、（１１）式、（１９）式および（２３）式を満たすようにした場合には、視野角αが０°から６０°までの範囲内で、ブラックマトリクス層ＢＭによる遮光に起因した有機ＥＬ素子からの表示光Ｌのケラレが生じている場合であっても、そのような表示光Ｌのケラレの割合が、５０％以下に抑えられる。
