Abstract
This invention provides a process for producing a thin optical film having excellent optical properties with high production efficiency. The production process is a process for producing an optical film comprising a film-like base material having a concave and convex structure and comprises the step of coating a resin solution using a resin material as a solute onto a mold having an inverted concave and convex structure of the above concave and convex structure, the step of drying and curing the coating of the resin solution to form a resin layer, the step of coating a solvent, which can dissolve the resin layer and the base material and does not cause any stay of the solvent component after evaporation, onto the surface of the resin layer, the step of, in such a state that the solvent coated on the surface of the resin layer has the capability of dissolving the base material, superimposing the solvent-coated surface of the resin layer and the base material on top of each other, the step of evaporating the solvent coated on the surface of the resin layer, and the step of separating the base material and the mold.
