Description
Description TRUNK PANEL PROTECTION COVER FOR VEHICLE
Technical Field
[1] The present invention relates to a trunk panel protection cover for a vehicle; and, more particularly, to a trunk panel protection cover for a vehicle which is capable of preventing the film of paint from being damaged due to a fixing tape for the installation of the trunk panel protection cover and preventing the protection cover from being damaged due to a stress which occurs at an adhesion area of the fixing tape when a trunk panel protection cover shrinks.
[2]
Background Art
[3] In general, automobiles manufactured in factories are delivered directly to consumers or through agencies through transportation means such as inland transportation means, marine transportation means and aviation transport means. During the transportation, in case when a paint film of the automobile is prevented from being damaged due to external environments such as moisture, dusts and direct rays of light, the commercial value of the automobile decreases. Therefore, the automobile may become impossible to sell or may be returned. In particular, in the case of automobiles exported to foreign countries, in consideration of export procedure, transport period to import counties, duration of storage after transport, and inland and standby period delivered to final consumers, period more than 6 to 8 months may be consumed. Therefore, there is a high possibility that the above-mentioned problems will occur.
[4] In order to solve these problems, in a conventional method, an opaque vinyl wrap has been covered on the surface of the paint film or anti-rust additives have been applied to the surface of the paint film of the vehicle. However, adhesion of the vinyl wrap needs much time and manpower, and this causes a new problem that adhesives may remain at the paint film after removal of the vinyl wrap. On the other hand, although the anti- rust additives do not bring about the problems caused in the case of the vinyl wrap, since wastewater generated during car washing causes environmental contaminations, the use of the anti-rust additives has been restricted in developed countries.
[5] Meanwhile, there has been recently used a protection cover constituted of a plurality of covers so as to be installed in each part of an exterior panel and having the fixing tape attached to an underside of the protection cover along the edge of the protection cover.
[6] However, since the fixing tape is prepared on the underside of the protection cover, it is impossible to solve the problem that adhesion materials remain on the paint film or the paint film is damaged by the remaining adhesion materials. In particular, in case when the protection cover is exposed to an external environment for a long period, the protection cover is shrank and thus, stresses occur at the adhesion portion of the fixing tape or a weakest portion. As a result, a new problem that a protection cover of the corresponding part is damaged may additionally occur.
[7]

Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention
[22] Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[23] Fig. 1 is a perspective view a state that a trunk panel protection cover for a vehicle is installed in accordance with a first embodiment of the present invention and Figs. 2 and 3 are a front view and a bottom view illustrating a trunk panel protection cover for a vehicle in accordance with the first embodiment of the present invention.
[24] As shown in Figs. 1 to 3, a trunk panel protection cover 100 for a vehicle in accordance with a first embodiment of the present invention includes an upper cover 110 in a shape and a size to entirely cover a surface of the trunk panel for the vehicle, a lower cover 120 formed at a predetermined width along an edge of the upper cover 110 and a fixing tape 130 is adhered to one side of the lower cover 120 as a protection cover which is applied to a trunk panel for a notch back style vehicle three boxes made of an engine room, a cart and a trunk.. At this time, the lower cover 120 is arranged to overlap with an underside of the upper cover 110 and is sewed at the edge to be
integrated with the upper cover 110.
[25] N)W, each component comprising the trunk panel protection cover 100 is further explained in detail.
[26] First, the upper cover 110 is formed as the same shape with the trunk panel, it is manufactured slightly larger than the trunk panel to allow the lower cover 120 to be sewed along the edge, and a folded part 140 is prepared long in a longitudinal direction (for example, to the direction of the vehicle length) in the middle of the upper cover 110.
[27] Among them, the folded part 140 is a means to solve the problem of shrinking which occurs when the trunk panel protection cover 100 for a vehicle is exposed to an external environment for a long period of time and has a structure that the middle of the upper cover 110 is folded at a predetermined width and taped with a masking tape 150. By achieving the above structure, the folded part 140 compensates shrinking by extending the middle portion and tearing the masking tape 150 at the same time with the force which pulls in both opposite directions when the trunk panel protection cover 100 for a vehicle shrinks. At this time, it is desirable that the adhesive strength of the making tape 150 is weaker compared to the adhesive strength of the fixing tape 130 which fixes the trunk panel protection cover 100 for the vehicle. In addition, even though the folded part 140 is prepared long in the longitudinal direction in case of the embodiment of the present invention, which is only one example, it can be made in a vertical direction as needed which is orthogonal to the illustration.
[28] The lower cover 120 is formed at a predetermined width along the edge of the upper cover 110 as described above and the fixing tape 130 is adhered to one side of the lower cover 120, in other words, to an inner side which faces the upper cover 110. The lower cover 120 is positioned to be overlapped with an underside of the upper cover 110 and is sewed along the edge to be integrated with the upper cover 110 and is installed by being turned inside out to the trunk panel not to expose the sewed area. In other words, at the time of installation of the trunk panel protection cover 100 for the vehicle, the lower cover is installed to envelope the boundary of the trunk panel and the fixing tape 130 which is attached to the underside is attached to the underside of the trunk panel to fix the trunk panel protection cover 100 for the vehicle. Sb, those problems that the adhesive of the fixing tape 130 remains on the film of paint of the trunk panel and that the film of paint is damaged of the film of paint do not occur.
[29] The trunk panel protection cover 100 for the vehicle with the illustrated shape and structure is made with a micro fiber high density polyethylene plexifilaments with a
diameter of about 0.5 to 10/M which is formed with heat and pressure only without adding any binder or fillers. Accordingly, the trunk panel protection cover 100 is light, tough and is free of dust. Additionally, it is durable that not to be torn after folding and unfolding more than 20,000 times, chemically durable not to react with chemical components such as acids, bases, salts, and has elasticity and pliability capable of being closely attached to each bumpy panel. In addition, the trunk protection cover is highly porous and water-proofed, blocks ultraviolet rays and heat effectively and is processed with a treatment for preventing static electricity on the surface.
[30] Figs. 4 to 6 are diagrams illustrating manufacturing processes of a trunk panel protection cover for a vehicle in accordance with the first embodiment of the present invention.
[31] As illustrated in Fig. 4, the upper cover 110 is manufactured by being cut slightly larger than the trunk panel to allow the lower cover 120 of Fig. 5 to be sewed at the edge, after forming long the folded part 140 by folding the middle portion of the top cover 110, the folded part 140 is taped with a masking tape 150.
[32] When the manufacture of the upper cover 110 is finished as illustrated above, the lower cover 120 is made at a predetermined width as illustrated in Fig. 5 and the fixing tape 130 is adhered to one side of the lower cover 120. And, as illustrated in Fig. 6, the lower cover 120 is positioned to be overlapped with the underside of the upper cover 110 and then the edge is sewed.
[33] The trunk panel protection cover 100 for the vehicle manufactured through those procedures is installed to the trunk panel by being turned inside out not to expose the sewed area as illustrated in Fig. 3.
[34] Figs. 7 and 8 are a front view and a bottom view illustrating a trunk panel protection cover for a vehicle in accordance with a second embodiment of the present invention.
[35] As illustrated in Figs. 7 and 8, a trunk panel protection cover 200 for a vehicle in accordance with a second embodiment of the present invention includes an upper cover 210 formed in a shape and a size to entirely cover a surface of the trunk panel for the vehicle, an lower cover 220 extended at a predetermined width along the edge of the upper cover 210, and a fixing tape 230 which is adhered along an underside of the lower cover 120 as a protection cover which is applied to a vehicle with a chromium- plated part at the front end of the trunk panel, wherein the upper cover 210 includes a horizontal cover 212 formed in a shape and a size that covers the horizontal plane of the trunk panel and a vertical cover 214 formed in a shape and a size to cover the vertical plane of the trunk panel. At this time, the upper cover 210 includes a folded
part 240 which is folded in the middle of the upper cover 210 and the folded part 240 is fixed by a masking tape 250.
[36] Since the second embodiment of the trunk panel protection cover 200 for the vehicle with the above combination is all the same with the first embodiment of the trunk panel protection cover except that the upper cover 210 is composed of the horizontal cover 212 and the vertical cover 214, the detailed explanation will be omitted.
[37] While the structure and the installation procedure of a trunk panel protection cover for a vehicle in accordance with the present invention has been described with respect to predetermined preferred embodiments, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various changes and modifications may be made without departing from the scope of the invention as defined in the following claims.
