Description
Description ROOF PANEL PROTECTION COVER FOR VEHICLE
Technical Field
[1] The present invention relates to a roof panel protection cover for a vehicle and more particularly to a roof panel protection cover for a vehicle which is capable of preventing the film of paint from being damaged due to a fixing tape for the installation of the roof panel protection cover and preventing the protection cover from being damaged due to a stress which occurs at an adhesion area of the fixing tape when a roof panel protection cover shrinks.
[2]
Background Art
[3] In general, automobiles manufactured in factories are delivered directly to consumers or through agencies through transportation means such as inland transportation means, marine transportation means and aviation transport means. During the transportation, in case when a paint film of the automobile is prevented from being damaged due to external environments such as moisture, dusts and direct rays of light, the commercial value of the automobile decreases. Therefore, the automobile may become impossible to sell or may be returned. In particular, in the case of automobiles exported to foreign countries, in consideration of export procedure, transport period to import counties, duration of storage after transport, and inland and standby period delivered to final consumers, period more than 6 to 8 months may be consumed. Therefore, there is a high possibility that the above-mentioned problems will occur.
[4] In order to solve these problems, in a conventional method, an opaque vinyl wrap has been covered on the surface of the paint film or anti-rust additives have been applied to the surface of the paint film of the vehicle. However, adhesion of the vinyl wrap needs much time and manpower, and this causes a new problem that adhesives may remain at the paint film after removal of the vinyl wrap. On the other hand, although the anti- rust additives do not bring about the problems caused in the case of the vinyl wrap, since wastewater generated during car washing causes environmental contaminations, the use of the anti-rust additives has been restricted in developed countries.
[5] Meanwhile, there has been recently used a protection cover constituted of a plurality of covers so as to be installed in each part of an exterior panel and having the fixing tape attached to an underside of the protection cover along the edge of the protection cover.
[6] However, since the fixing tape is prepared on the underside of the protection cover, it is impossible to solve the problem that adhesion materials remain on the paint film or the paint film is damaged by the remaining adhesion materials. In particular, in case when the protection cover is exposed to an external environment for a long period, the protection cover is shrank and thus, stresses occur at the adhesion portion of the fixing tape or a weakest portion. As a result, a new problem that a protection cover of the corresponding part is damaged may additionally occur.
[7]

Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention
[26] Hereinafter, preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings.
[27] Fig. 1 is a front view illustrating a vehicle with a roof panel protection cover in accordance with the present invention and Fig.2 and Fig.3 are a front and a bottom view illustrating a roof panel protection cover for a vehicle in accordance with the present invention.
[28] As shown in Figs. 1 to 3, the roof panel protection cover 100 for a vehicle in accordance with the present invention includes a main cover 110 with a shape and a size that entirely covers a surface of the roof panel for the vehicle, an auxiliary cover 120 extended at a predetermined width along an edge of the main cover 110, a fixing tape 130 which is adhered along an edge of an underside of the auxiliary cover 120. At this time, an imaginary line is made between the main cover 110 and the auxiliary
cover 120 to distinguish the covers 110 and 120.
[29] N)W each component comprising the roof panel protection cover 100 is further explained in detail.
[30] First, the main cover 110 is formed as the same shape and size with the roof panel and includes a folded part 150 prepared long in the middle (for example, in a lengthwise direction of the vehicle) of the main cover 110, and when a satellite antenna is installed (not shown) on the vehicle, a penetrating hole 160 is formed at a corresponding position according to the specification of the vehicle. Hereinafter, the embodiment of the present invention is explained including the penetrating hole 160 so that can be applicable to a vehicle equipped with a satellite antenna.
[31] Among those, the folded part 150 is a means to solve the problem of shrinking which occurs when the roof panel protection cover 100 for a vehicle is exposed to an external environment for a long period of time and has a structure that the middle of the upper cover 110 is folded at a predetermined width and taped with a masking tape 170. By achieving the above structure, the folded part 150 compensates shrinking by extending the middle end and tearing the masking tape 170 at the same time with the force which pulls in both opposite directions when the roof panel protection cover 100 for a vehicle shrinks. At this time, it is desirable that the adhesive strength of the making tape 170 is weaker compared to the adhesive strength of the fixing tape 130 which fixes the roof panel protection cover 100 for a vehicle. In addition, even though the folded part 150 is formed in the longitudinal direction in case of the embodiment of the present invention, which is only one example, it can be made in a vertical direction as needed which is orthogonal to the illustration.
[32] The penetrating hole 160 is formed at a position facing the satellite antenna and exposes the satellite antenna to the outside through the penetrating hole 160 in order to closely contact the main cover 110 to the surface of the roof panel. A tape 180 can be attached along the underside of the penetrating hole 160 for preventing foreign materials from being introduced through the penetrating hole 160 in accordance with the embodiments of the present invention. And, the inflow of foreign materials can be prevented by attaching and sealing a satellite antenna protection cover (not shown) for protecting the satellite antenna to the penetrating hole 160.
[33] The auxiliary cover 120 is extended at a predetermined width along the edge of the main cover 110. And the fixing tape 130 is attached at the underside of the auxiliary cover 120 along the edge to fix the roof panel protection cover 100 for the vehicle to the roof panel. In other words, at the time of installation of the roof panel protection
cover 100 for the vehicle, the fixing tape 130 which is attached to the auxiliary cover 120 is attached to the side (340 of Fig. 6) of the roof panel of the vehicle, the front glass (320 of Fig. 6) and the rear glass (330 of Fig. 6) to fix the roof panel protection cover 100 for the vehicle. Therefore, a problem that the adhesive of the fixing tape 130 remains on the film of paint of the roof panel does not occur, in this result, the film of paint is not damaged.
[34] Fig. 4 is a front view illustrating another embodiment of a roof panel protection cover for a vehicle in accordance with the present invention. Another embodiment of a roof panel protection cover for a vehicle in accordance with the present invention includes a main cover 210 formed in the same shape and size so that the main cover 210 can entirely cover the surface of the roof panel for a vehicle, an auxiliary cover 220 formed along the edge of the main cover 210 and a fixing tape (now shown) attached along the edge of the auxiliary cover 220 to the underside of the auxiliary cover 220.
[35] As another embodiment of the roof panel protection cover for the vehicle with the above components is all the same with the first embodiment of the roof panel protection cover except that the auxiliary cover 220 is made separately from the main cover 210 and sewed, the detailed explanation will be omitted.
[36] The roof panel protection covers 100 and 200) for the vehicle with the illustrated shape and structure is made with a micro fiber high density polyethylene plexi- filaments with a diameter of about 0.5 ~ 10/M which is formed with heat and pressure only without adding any binder or fillers. Accordingly, the roof panel protection cover is light, tough and is free of dust in comparison with other materials. Additionally, it is durable that not to be torn after folding and unfolding more than 2OjOOO times, chemically durable not to react with chemical components such as acids, bases, salts, and has elasticity and pliability capable of being closely attached to each bumpy panel. In addition, the roof protection cover is highly porous and water-proofed, blocks ultraviolet rays and heat effectively and is processed with a treatment for preventing static electricity on the surface.
[37] Figs. 5 to 7 are diagrams illustrating an installation procedure of the roof panel protection cover for the vehicle in accordance with the present invention.
[38] As illustrated in Fig. 5, the roof panel protection cover 100 for the vehicle in accordance with the present invention is positioned on the upper part of the roof panel 310 of the vehicle. At this time, the main cover 110 is coincided with the boundary of the roof panel 310 with reference to the imaginary line 140 which distinguishes the
main cover 110 and the auxiliary cover 120 of the roof panel protection cover 100 for the vehicle as an origin.
[39] After that, the roof panel protection cover 100 for the vehicle is closely adhered to the roof panel 310, and the fixing tape(130 of Fig. 3) fixed to the underside of the auxiliary cover 120 is respectively adhered to the side 340, the front glass 320 and the rear glass 330 of the roof panel 310 after removing release papers from the fixing tape 130. At this time, the fixing tape 130 which is attached to the ends of the front and the rear sides of the roof panel protection cover 100 for the vehicle is attached to the front and the rear glasses 320 and 330, respectively, and the fixing tape 130 which is attached to the front end of each side is attached to the side 340 of the roof panel 310 as shown in Fig. 6.
[40] In Fig. 7, after installing the roof panel protection cover 100 for a vehicle, it is additionally fixed by the same when the door 350 is closed as shown in the drawings as the boundary of the roof panel protection cover 100 for the vehicle is positioned on the inside of a door 350 when the door 350 is closed.
[41] While the structure and the installation procedure of a roof panel protection cover for a vehicle in accordance with the present invention has been described with respect to predetermined preferred embodiments, it will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various changes and modifications may be made without departing from the scope of the invention as defined in the following claims.
