Abstract

A binuclear ruthenium complex dye is obtained by reacting a ruthenium complex (1) represented by the general formula (1) below and a ruthenium complex (2) represented by the formula (2-1) below or the formula (2-2) below, and then isolating the reaction product by adding an acid so that the pH of the reaction liquid is more than 2.5 but not more than 5.
