Description

Description DESK CALENDER WITH POP-UP SIGNBOARD
Technical Field
[1] The present invention relates to desk calendars. More specifically, the present invention relates to a desk calendar with pop-up signboards in which a signboard of various patterns pops up from a right or left side of the desk calendar whenever a calendar sheet is turned over. Background Art
[2] In general, the desk calendar has a shape in which a plurality of calendar sheets
(around 13 sheets) are bound with spring ring to a substantially triangular support for a user to turn over one by one.
[3] On a front of each of the calendar sheet, dates of a month are printed in numerals, with each of the numerals partitioned to form a space so that the user of the calendar writes user's schedules or congratulation/condolence matters.
[4] Printed on a back side of the calendar sheet, in most of cases, there is advertisement of an enterprise, or a work of photograph of people or scenery. Thus, the desk calendars are widely used as materials for advertisement or promotion of sales for publicity work of enterprises or advertisement of a product. Disclosure of Invention Technical Problem
[5] The desk calendar has had a limited space for advertisement because an adequate space is required for printing the dates and the schedules on the calendar sheet. According to this, on the front of the calendar sheet, in general, only a name of the enterprise or a logo thereof has been printed.
[6] Though a large size advertisement space may be provided on the front of the calendar sheet, this case can serve as a calendar poorly because the space for writing the schedule including the numeral becomes relatively small.
[7] Moreover, because the related art calendar has a advertisement draft or picture allocated to a designated position at a periphery of the calendar sheet, with a comparatively small size, failing to attract user s attention, the related art calendar have failed to obtain an effect of advertisement as much as expected. Technical Solution
[8] To solve the problems, an object of the present invention is to provide a calendar with pop-up signboards in which, different from a related art desk calendar in which an advertisement portion is limited to a fixed area of a calendar sheet, a signboard of various patterns pops up from a top of the calendar whenever a calendar sheet is turned over so that a variety of advertisements are possible to maximize an advertisement effect by means of the separate signboards while the space of the present calendar sheet is used as it is.
[9] To achieve these objects and other advantages and in accordance with the purpose of the invention, as embodied and broadly described herein, a desk calendar with pop-up signboards includes a substantially triangular supporter when seen on a side thereof, a plurality of calendar sheets supported on the supporter so as to be turned over one by one, a plurality of pop-up signboards each constructed of one pair of pop-up plates formed on opposite sides of each of the calendar sheets such that the signboard is popped up, or is turned over together with the calendar sheet following the turn over of the calendar sheet, and a spring ring for bonding the calendar sheets to the supporter in a state the calendar sheets can be turned over one by one.
Advantageous Effects
[10] The present invention has following advantageous effects.

[32] Reference will now be made in detail to the specific embodiments of the present invention, examples of which are illustrated in the accompanying drawings. Wherever possible, the same reference numbers will be used throughout the drawings to refer to the same or like parts.
[33] FIGS. 1 to 13 illustrate a calendar with pop-up signboards in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention.
[34] Referring to FIGS. 1 to 13, the desk calendar of the present invention includes a substantially triangular supporter 1 when seen on a side thereof, a plurality of calendar sheets 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, 2-4, 2-5, 2-6, 2-7, 2-8, 2-9, 2-10, 2-11, and 2-12 bound to the supporter 1, a spring ring 3 for binding the calendar sheets to the supporter 1 in a state the calendar sheets can be turned over one by one, a plurality of pop-up plates respectively formed as one unit with the calendar sheets such that the plate pops up from, and stands upright on, a top of the calendar sheet when the calendar sheet is turned over to form a pop-up signboard A.
[35] The triangular supporter 1 supports the calendar sheets in a tilted state when the calendar is in use, and is foldable to reduce an entire volume of the calendar in transportation or storage, and constructed of comparatively thick paperboard for supporting the plurality of calendar sheets.
[36] FIGS. 1 to 3 illustrate fronts of June calendar sheets 2-6 and a July calendar sheet 2-7 respectively, showing the supporter 1 and the calendar sheets 2-6 and 2-7 having a plurality of holes of a size large enough to pass the spring ring 3, such that by binding the supporter 1 and the calendar sheets with the spring ring 3 passed through the holes 4, the calendar sheets are bound to the supporter 1 in a state the calendar sheets can be turned over one by one.
[37] Alike the calendar sheets, the pop-up plates 2-5a, 2-6a, and 2-7b on the calendar sheets 2-6, and 2-7 have a plurality of holes 4 of a size large enough to pass the spring ring 3 having the spring ring 3 passed therethrough, and a folding line 5 is formed on a boundary between the calendar sheet and the pop-up plate so that the pop-up plate is folded easily while the pop-up plate is turned over together with the calendar sheet when the calendar sheet is turned over.
[38] The folding line 5 may be formed in a variety of shapes for making easy turn over of the calendar sheet and the pop-up plate.
[39] For examples, the folding line may be formed by pressing in a straight line with a tool, or by pressing in a straight line together with punching a plurality of small holes along the line.
[40] Each one of the pop-up plates is formed on left and right sides of a top of the calendar sheet, and forms one pair with an opposite pop-up plate formed on an opposite calendar sheet adjacent thereto to form one pop-up signboard A.
[41] For an example, referring to FIG. 1, the pop-up plate 2-6a on the right side of the
June calendar sheet 2-6 forms one pair with a pop-up plate 5a formed on a May calendar sheet which is a previous month of June adjacent thereto to form the pop-up signboard A. Edges of the adjacent pop-up plates 2-5a and 2-6a are adhered with adhesive means.
[42] The adhesive means may be an adhesive, sticker, or two sided tape. Referring to
FIGS. 1 and 4, the edges of the one pair of the adjacent pop-up plates 2-5a and 2-6a are adhered together for making the two pop-up plates 2-5a and 2-6a to serve as a supporter to each other such that the pop-up signboard A constructed of the two pop-up plates 2-5a and 2-6a is upright. If the adjacent pop-up plates are not adhered with the adhesive means, but left individually, the individual pop-up plate will fail to stand upright due to the folding line 5, but will bend as time passes by, or folded or torn, to fail to obtain a desired advertisement effect.
[43] The pop-up signboards A each constructed of the one pair of the pop-up plates are arranged in zigzag such that the pop-up signboard A pops up from the right side of the calendar plate in one month, and from the left side in the other month when the calendar is seen from the front. If the calendar has 12 calendar sheets, the 12 pop-up signboards A have designs different from one another for obtaining various advertisement effects.
[44] FIGS. 2 and 3, and FIGS. 5 to 8 illustrate examples in which various shapes of the pop-up plates are formed on the left and the right side of the calendar sheets.
[45] The June calendar sheet 2-6 has a substantially rectangular pop-up plate 2-6a on the right side, and a substantially triangular pop-up plate 2-6b on the left side. The July calendar sheet 2-7 has a substantially triangular pop-up plate 2-7b on the left side, and a star shaped pop-up plate 2-7a on the right side.
[46] Each of the pop-up plates 2-6a, 2-6b, 2-1 Ά, and 2-7b formed on the left and right sides of the calendar sheet in above drawings has one side used as an advertisement surface, and the other side used as an adhesive surface.
[47] For an example, for convenience of description, if a side having dates printed thereon is called as a calendar side and a side having a photograph or picture printed thereon is called as an image side, of the opposite sides of the rectangular pop-up plate 2-6a of the June calendar plate 2-6, the calendar side is an advertisement side, and the image side is the adhesive side, and opposite to this, of the opposite sides of the triangular pop-up plate 2-6b of the June calendar plate 2-6, the calendar side is the adhesive side and the image side is the advertisement side.
[48] Of the opposite sides of the triangular pop-up plate 2-7b of the July calendar plate
2-7, the calendar side is an advertisement side, and the image side is the adhesive side, and of the opposite sides of the star shaped pop-up plate 2-7a of the July calendar plate 2-7, the calendar side is the adhesive side and the image side is the advertisement side.
[49] In order to make above understandable easily, of the opposite sides of the pop-up plates 2-6a, 2-6b, 2-1 Ά, and 2-7b, the adhesive sides are hatched in FIGS. 5 to 8.
[50] In above drawings, the adhesive side of the rectangular pop-up plate 2-6a of the June calendar 2-6 is adhered to the adhesive side of the rectangular pop-up plate on the May calendar sheet (not shown) which is a previous month of June to form one pop-up signboard A, and the adhesive side of the triangular pop-up plate 2-6b is adhered to the adhesive side of the triangular pop-up plate 2-7b on the July calendar sheet 2-7 to form one triangular pop-up signboard A.
[51] Also, the adhesive side of the star shaped pop-up plate 2-7a on the July calendar 2-7 is adhered to the adhesive side of an identical shape on an August calendar sheet (not shown) which is a next month of July to form one star shaped pop-up signboard.
[52] As described, the pop-up signboard A has two pop-up plates, i.e., the pop-up plate on each of the calendar sheets forms a half of the pop-up signboard A.
[53] If a variety of shapes of pop-up plates are formed for the calendar sheets, it is possible to display a variety of concepts of advertisements with a variety of patterns as the rectangular pop-up signboard of the rectangular pop-up plates 2-5a and 2-6a pops up from the top of the right side of the June calendar sheet as shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, the triangular pop-up signboard of the triangular pop-up plates 2-6b and 2-7b pops up from the top of the left side of the July calendar sheet as shown in FIG. 3, and, though not shown, the star shaped pop-up signboard pops up from the top of the right side of an August calendar.
[54] Though examples of June to August are described, 12 kinds of different pop-up signboards A can be formed if the 12 months are displayed by above method, when a new pop-up plate of a new month pops up following turn over of a new calendar sheet of the new month, an old pop-up plate of a prior month is folded together with an old calendar sheet and is hidden into an inside of the calendar sheet.
[55] In the meantime, referring to FIGS. 9 and 10, the folding line on the pop-up plate serves, not only the new pop-up plate to be unfolded and popped up smoothly following turning over of the new calendar sheet, but also the old pop-up plate to be folded and turned over easily together with the old calendar sheet.
[56] The pop up signboards A are designed to be popped up on the right side and left side alternately following turning over of the calendar sheets, for making thickness of the left side and the right side of an upper portion of the calendar uniform. If the pop-up signboards A are provided either only on the left side or on the right side, because one side becomes thicker than the other side, there will be a problem in bookbinding, and the calendar will have a poor appearance.
[57] FIG. 11 illustrates a perspective view of a few sheets of calendar sheets having no spring ring holes shown therein, FIG. 12 illustrates a side view of calendar sheets of a calendar arranged in an order and all adhesive surfaces of pop-up plates adhered, and FIG. 13 illustrates a plan view of calendar sheets of a calendar arranged in an order and all adhesive surfaces of pop-up plates adhered.
[58] Of the pop-up plates on the left side and the right side of the calendar sheets 2-1, 2-2,
2-3, 2-4, 2-5, 2-6, 2-7, 2-8, 2-9, 2-10, 2-11, and 2-12, above drawings illustrate a state in which adjacent two pop-up plates are adhered together to form the pop-up signboard A.
[59] Referring to FIG. 12, of the pop-up plates on the left side and the right side of the
January calendar sheets 2-1, the pop-up plate 2- Ib on the left side is adhered to the pop-up plate 6b on a cover of the calendar to form one of the pop-up signboards A, the pop-up plate 2- Ia on the right side is adhered to the pop-up plate 2-2a on the right side of February calendar sheet 2-2 to form one of the pop-up signboards A, the pop-up plate 2-2b on the left side of the February calendar sheet is adhered to the pop-up plate 2-3b on the left side of the March calendar sheet 2-3 to form one of the pop-up signboards A, and the pop-up plate 2-3a on the right side of the March calendar sheet 2-3 is adhered to the pop-up plate 2-4 on the left side of April calendar sheet 2-4 to form one of the pop-up signboards A.
[60] Pairs of the pop-up plates (2-5a and 2-6a), (2-7a and 2-8a), (2-9a and 2-1Oa), and
(2-1 Ia and 2- 12a) on the right sides of the calendar sheets 2-4, 2-5, 2-6, 2-7, 2-8, 2-9, 2-10, 2-11, and 2-12 from April to December are adhered respectively to form respective pop-up signboards, and pairs of the pop-up plates (2-4b and 2- 5b), (2-6b and 2-7b), (2- 8b and 2-9b), and (2- 10b and 2-1 Ib) on the left sides of the calendar sheets are adhered respectively to form respective pop-up signboards.
[61] Because the two sheets of pop-up plates on each of the calendar sheets form one pair in forming one pop-up signboard A having a shape similar to the supporter substantially, the pop-up signboard A is not deformed of damaged by an external force, but can maintain an original shape for a long time. As described before, though FIG. 11 illustrates an example in which the pop-up signboard is rectangular substantially, the pop-up signboard can be triangular, diamond, or any other shape according to a shape of the pop-up plates.
[62] A desk calendar with pop-up signboards in accordance with a preferred embodiment of the present invention is described, in which 24 pop-up plates are formed on calendar sheets, and adjacent pop-up plates are adhered to form 12 pop-up signboards A. Since the desk calendar has 12 pop-up signboards with 24 pop-up plates, 12 adhered spots are required.
[63] FIGS. 14 to 16 illustrate a calendar with pop-up signboards in accordance with another preferred embodiment of the present invention.
[64] FIG. 14 illustrates a perspective view of calendar sheets shown in the same mode with FIG. 11, FIG. 15 illustrates a side view showing the calendar sheets in FIG. 14 arranged in an order and all adhesive surfaces of the pop-up plates have been adhered, and FIG. 16 illustrates a plan view of two calendar sheets and pop-up plates cut as one unit.
[65] Referring to FIGS. 14 to 16, of pop-up signboards A on left and right sides of each calendar sheet, pop-up plates of one side pop-up signboard are extended from the calendar sheets connected to each other, and, alike the foregoing embodiment, the other pop-up plates of the other side pop-up signboard are extended from the calendar sheets separated from each other in a half divided shape, and adhered together with the adhesive means.
[66] That is, though the desk calendar with pop-up signboards in the embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 to 13 describes pop-up plates on the left and right sides of each calendar sheet, each of which is a half of the pop-up signboard, are formed individually, and adhered together by two plates to form the pop-up signboard, the desk calendar with pop-up signboards in this embodiment describes the pop-up plates of one of the pop-up signboards on the left and right sides of each calendar sheet are connected to each other such that no adhesion is required.
[67] For an example, referring to FIG. 14, the pop-up plates (2- Ia', 2-2a'), (2-3a', 2-4a), and (2-5a', 2-6a') on the right sides of the calendar sheets (2-1), (2-2), (2-3), (2-4), (2-5), and (2-6) are formed as one unit in a state the pop-up plates (2- Ia', 2-2a'), (2-3a', 2-4a'), and (2-5a', 2-6a') are extended from the calendar sheets and connected to each other respectively, with the folding line 5 formed on the middle of the pop-up plates connected thus, to form the pop-up signboard A as the one pair of the pop-up plates connected thus is folded along the folding line.
[68] Each of the pop-up plates (2-2b'), (2-3b'), (2-4b'), (2-5b'), and (2-6b') on the left sides of the calendar sheets (2-1), (2-2), (2-3), (2-4), (2-5), and (2-6) is a half of each of the pop-up signboards, and by adhering adjacent pairs of the pop-up plates, the signboards are constructed.
[69] FIG. 15 illustrates a side view showing the calendar sheets in FIG. 14 arranged in an order and all adhesive surfaces of the pop-up plates have been adhered, wherein each of the pairs of the pop-up plates (2-la and 2-2a'), (2-3a and 2-4a'), (2-5a and 2-6a'), and (2-7a and 2-8a'), (2-9a and 2- 10a'), and (2-1 Ia and 2- 12a') are connected to each other as one unit to form 6 pop-up signboards which have no adhesion required, and the popup plates (2-2b and 2-3b'), (2-4b and 2-5b'), (2-6b and 2-7b'), and (2-8b and 2-9b'), and (2- 10b and 2-1 Ib') are separate from each other and adhered to each other by the adhesive means to form 6 pop-up signboards, thereby requiring only 6 adhesions in total to fabricate the calendar.
[70] Of the pop-up plates on the left and right sides of the calendar sheets, the formation of one side pop-up plates connected to each other as one unit is possible by cutting a sheet of paper which is a material of the calendar sheets into a shape as shown in FIG. 16.
[71] FIG. 16 illustrates an example in which a January calendar sheet 2-1, a February calendar sheet 2-2, pop-up plates 2-la', 2-2a', 2- Ib', and 2-2b are cut as one unit, wherein two one side pop-up plates 2-la and 2-2a between two calendar sheets 2-1 and 2-2b form one pop-up signboard by using the folding line 5 between the two one side pop-up plates 2-la and 2-2a without adhesion, the pop-up plates 2- Ib and 2-2b on an opposite side are adhered to an adjacent pop-up plate, to form the pop-up signboard.
[72] 6 unit sheets shown in FIG. 16 construct one calendar. Though substantially rectangular pop-up signboards are shown in FIGS. 14 to 16, the shapes of the pop-up signboards are not limited to the rectangular shape, but may have a variety of shapes.
[73] In this case, the pop-up signboard of the one pair of the pop-up plates is not liable to deformation, damage, thereby maintaining an original shape for a long time period.
[74] FIGS. 17 to 19 illustrate a calendar with pop-up signboards in accordance with another preferred embodiment of the present invention, wherein FIG. 17 illustrates a perspective view of calendar sheets shown in the same mode with FIG. 11, FIG. 18 illustrates a side view showing calendar sheets arranged in an order and all adhesive surfaces of the pop-up plates have been adhered, and FIG. 19 illustrates a plan view of two calendar sheets and pop-up plates cut as one unit.
[75] Alike the embodiment described with reference to FIGS. 14 to 16, of pop-up signboards A on left and right sides of each calendar sheet, pairs of pop-up plates of one side pop-up signboard are formed as one unit extended from the calendar sheets, and the other pop-up plate of the other side pop-up signboard is separated from the calendar sheet.
[76] For an example, referring to FIG. 17, the pop-up plates (2-Ia", 2-2a") (2-3a", 2-4a", and (2-5a", 2-6a") on the right sides of the calendar sheets (2-1), (2-2), (2-3), (2-4), (2-5), and (2-6) are extended from the calendar sheets and connected to each other respectively, with the folding line 5 formed on the middle of the pop-up plates connected thus, and each of the pop-up plates (2-2b"), (2-3b"), (2-4b"), (2-5b"), (2-6b"), and (2-7b") on the left sides of the calendar sheets is separated from each of the calendar sheets.
[77] However, though the foregoing embodiment described with reference to FIGS. 14 to
16 shows a desk calendar with pop-up signboards having pairs of pop-up plates of shapes each of which is a half of the left side pop-up signboard adhered together to form one pop-up signboard, this embodiment shows one pair of pop-up plates of one pop-up signboard formed as one unit with one calendar sheet, with a folding line 5 therebetween to adhere one side edge of the pop-up plate to a left side of a top edge of other calendar sheet adjacent thereto.
[78] That is, referring to FIG. 17, one pair of the pop-up plates 2-2b" and 2-3b" are formed connected to each other as one unit on the left side of the February calendar sheet 2-2 and an edge thereof is adhered to a top side of the left side of the March calendar sheet 2-3, and pairs of pop-up plates (2-4b" and 2-5b") and (2-6b" and 2-7b") are formed as one unit connected to each other on the April calendar sheet 2-4 and the June calendar sheet 2-6 too respectively, and adhered to left side top of the May calendar sheet 2-5 and the July calendar sheet (not shown), to form the pop-up signboard.
[79] FIG. 18 illustrates a side view showing the calendar sheets of 12 months in FIG. 17 arranged in an order and all adhesive surfaces of the pop-up plates have been adhered, wherein each of the pairs of the pop-up plates (2-Ia" and 2-2a"), (2-3a" and 2-4a"), (2-5a" and 2-6a"), and (2-7a" and 2-8a"), (2-9a" and 2- 10a"), and (2-1 Ia" and 2- 12a") are connected to each other as one unit with the calendar sheets respectively without requiring adhesion.
[80] The pop-up plates 2-2b" and 2-3b" are formed as one unit with the February calendar sheet, with an edge thereof adhered to the March calendar sheet 2-3, the pop-up plates 2-4b" and 2-5b" are formed as one unit with the April calendar sheet, with an edge thereof adhered to the May calendar sheet 2-5, and the pop-up plates 2-6b" and 2-7b" are formed as one unit with the June calendar sheet, with an edge thereof adhered to the July calendar sheet 2-7.
[81] The pop-up plates 2-8b" and 2-9b" are formed as one unit with the August calendar sheet, with an edge thereof adhered to the November calendar sheet 2-3.
[82] Of the left and right side pop-up plates on each of the calendar sheets, the formation of one side pop-up plates connected to each other is made possible by cutting a sheet of paper which is a material of the calendar sheets into a shape as shown in FIG. 19.
[83] FIG. 19 illustrates an example in which the January calendar sheet 2-1, the February calendar sheet 2-2, and the pop-up plates 2- Ia", 2-2a", 2-2b", and 2-3b" are cut as one unit, wherein the one side pop-up plates 2- Ia' and 2-2a' are connected to the calendar sheet to form one pop-up signboard by using the folding line 5 without adhesion, and opposite side pop-up plates 2-2b" and 2-3b" has the folding line therebetween and an edge thereof is adhered to a top of the March calendar sheet, to form one pop-up signboard.
[84] According to this, 6 unit sheets shown in FIG. 19 construct one desk calendar with pop-up signboards.
[85] Alike the embodiment described with reference to FIGS. 14 to 16, because only the edge of one side pop-up plate of the unit sheet is adhered to a top of an adjacent calendar sheet, the adhesion of the pop-up plate can be reduced from 12 to 6.
[86] If a material, such as a thin sticker, is used as the adhesive means when the edge of the pop-up plate formed as one unit with one side (left side in the drawing) of the calendar sheet is adhered to the top of the calendar adjacent thereto, the adhered portion can be folded or unfolded easily even if no folding line is formed on the adhered portion.
[87] It will be apparent to those skilled in the art that various modifications and variations can be made in the present invention without departing from the spirit or scope of the invention. Thus, it is intended that the present invention cover the modifications and variations of this invention provided they come within the scope of the appended claims and their equivalents.
