Abstract

Provided is a contact detector having a detection needle for detecting the contact with a detecting object so that it is used in a measuring device for measuring a positional relation between the tool axis of a machining tool and a working object, thereby to acquire a high measurement precision. In the contact detector, the three supporting portions of the detection needle are supported by a biasing force of a pushing spring at three receiving seats disposed at the crest positions of an equilateral triangle, thereby to hold the stable position of the detection needle. The contact detector includes a fulcrum member fixed on the root portion of the detection needle, and a fulcrum receiver made integral with a supporting member having the receiving seats, and the supporting member and the fulcrum receiver are so opposed to each other that the outer fulcrums are formed on the circumference of a circle which is centered at the axis of the detection needle and which has a radius (R) larger than the distance to the farthest receiving seat. The supporting member and the fulcrum receiver contact such that the supporting portions are pushed onto the receiving seats by the pushing spring without the outer fulcrum being pushed.
