Abstract

To provide a manufacturing of a low-cost wavelength selection element allowing customization of selective wavelengths through patterning with metallic mold or mask where lattice patterns are formed, a manufacturing of a flexible wavelength selection element using resin materials, a manufacturing of a wavelength selection element with a wide viewing angle, and a wavelength selection element covering a visible light region. The wavelength selection element has a substrate and a sub-wavelength structure layer that is formed on the substrate and includes a lattice layer and a waveguide layer for reflecting or transmitting the selected waves. The wavelength selection element is characterized in that a cycle of the lattice layer is smaller than a length of the selective wavelength in vacuum, and the lattice layer is at least made of resin materials.
