Abstract

The present invention provides a system and method for storing and retrieving documents stored in a variety of formats, for efficient storage and easy retrieval. The plurality of formats that the original representations adhere to is addressed by proposing a uniform file format wherein the data is stored in such a way that it is easily retrieved. The system of the present invention facilitates efficient storage and easy retrieval of data or documents, which are stored in a plurality of formats, such as rich-text, TIFF, PDF etc. The method of the present invention is used for storing and retrieving documents stored in a plurality of formats comprising the steps of accepting the documents or data in a plurality of formats; converting the documents into a uniform file format by demarcating the documents into control and data sections and storing the same for retrieval at a later stage.
