Abstract

It is an object to provide an interactive communication system in which an image or a character string is superimposed on a display screen of each communication terminal device without imposing a processing load on a communication server. Terminal device condition information is transmitted from each of the conference terminal devices (21, 22, ..., 2n) to a multipoint conference device (1); the multipoint conference device (1) transmits each of image coded data received from the conference terminal devices (21, 22, ..., 2n) to arbitrary conference terminal devices (21, 22, ..., 2n), respectively; a superimposing image identifier corresponding to the received terminal device condition information and superimposing position information are inserted into each of the image coded data; the processed data are transmitted to the conference terminal devices (21, 22, ..., 2n) through an image selecting unit (23); a superimposing image corresponding to the superimposing image identifier is selected by the conference terminal devices (21, 22, ..., 2n); and the selected superimposing image is superimposed on an image displayed by each of the conference terminal devices (21, 22, ..., 2n) in accordance with the superimposing position information.
