Abstract
La présente invention concerne un procédé de détermination d'espace de données explicitement libres dans des système de stockage de données informatiques avec l'espace de données alloué implicitement au moyen d'une information fournie par un système informatique hôte avec une connaissance de l'espace alloué en cours d'utilisation au moment de l'interrogation. Selon un mode de réalisation, il est demandé à un système de fichiers (FS) d'identifier des groupes qui ne sont plus en cours d'utilisation qui est ensuite mappé vers des disques physiques visible à un système d'exploitation (OS). Les disques physiques sont mappés vers des volumes simulés/virtualisés présentés par un sous-système de stockage. Grâce à l'information de serveur concernant le système de fichiers, pour ces pages qui ne sont plus en cours d'utilisation, des pages de copie instantanée (PITC) sont marquées pour une copie PITC ultérieure et ne vont pas être fondues, permettant ainsi une économie importante de stockage.
