Abstract

This invention provides a spiral-type separating membrane element which can suppress concentration polarization to substantially the same level as the conventional product, can reduce pressure loss on the supply side, and causes no significant rise in pressure loss with elapse of time during operation. In the spiral-type separating membrane element, one of or two or more of a separating membrane, a supply-side flow path material, and a permeated-side flow path material is wound around a perforated hollow center tube. The supply-side flow path material is a net formed so that a plurality of filament-like materials (1) cross one another at substantially right angles. The spacing L of intersection points of the filament-like materials (1) along the direction of flow of the liquid supplied is 6 to 13 mm.
