Abstract

La présente invention concerne une île artificielle (10), apte à une opération terrestre ou maritime comportant des installations de collecte d'énergie solaire et apte à être entraînée en rotation pour optimiser son orientation angulaire par rapport à la position du soleil. Plus particulièrement, l'île artificielle (10) utilise une plate-forme (12) comportant un vaste anneau extérieur (14) qui flotte sur un fluide, et une couverture souple (16) fixée à l'anneau (14) pour définir un volume étanche à l'air (30) sous la couverture (16). Une pluralité de rangées (19) de modules de collecte de rayonnement solaire, situées au-dessus de la couverture (16), portent des canalisations de génération de chaleur (21). Les rangées (19) de modules sont maintenues au-dessus de la couverture (16) par une structure de support supérieure, soit une structure spatiale (27), une pluralité de câbles (46) ou un nid d'abeille (75). Un compresseur (32) génère une surpression à l'intérieur du volume fermé (30) pour aider au support de la couverture (16) et d'autres éléments montés au-dessus de celle-ci. Cette structure pour le support des rangées (19) des modules de collecte de rayonnement solaire permet la construction de l'île artificielle (10) avec une très grande superficie, éventuellement jusqu'à plusieurs kilomètres de diamètre pour une meilleure utilisation du potentiel de serrage des concentrateurs solaires (22), permettant ainsi la production d'électricité à un coût économiquement viable. L'île artificielle (10) comporte une pluralité d'autres caractéristiques structurelles pour améliorer l'application pratique de la technologie de collecte de rayonnement solaire.
