Abstract

Disclosed is an all-solid-state reflective dimming electrochromic device having a buffer layer. This all-solid-state reflective dimming electrochromic device has a structure wherein a transparent conductive film layer, an ion storage layer, a solid electrolyte layer, a buffer layer, a catalyst layer and a reflective dimming layer composed of a magnesium alloy thin film, especially a multilayer thin film using a magnesium-nickel alloy, magnesium-titanium alloy or magnesium-niobium alloy, are formed on a transparent base composed of a glass or resin sheet. Also disclosed are a method for manufacturing such an all-solid-state reflective dimming electrochromic device, and a dimmer member employing such a reflective dimming electrochromic device. This reflective dimming electrochromic device has a novel multilayer structure and exhibits high transmittance when it is transparent. In addition, the reflective dimming electrochromic device enables switching in a short time over a wide area.
