Abstract

A bearing device in which a preload acting on bearings can be obtained without causing electrodes to come into contact with a rotation body, production cost is reduced, and the life of a device component is extended. The bearing device is adapted such that spacers (4 (5)) are placed between raceway rings (3i, 3i (3g, 3g)) of axially arranged rolling bearings (3A, 3B) that receive a preload. The bearing device has an electrode (11) electrically connected to the stationary ring (3g) of the rolling bearing (3A) and also has an electrode (12) provided on a member fixed to the stationary ring (3g) and electrically connected to the rotation ring (3i) via the capacitance forming section (3B) that is a different part from the rolling bearing (3A). The bearing device further has capacitance measurement means (9) for measuring the capacitance (C) between the pair of the electrodes (11, 12) and preload detection means (10) for detecting a preload on the rolling bearings (3A, 3B) based on values measured by the capacitance measurement means (9).
