Abstract

The invention relates to a system to provide a decoration to be applied to door or window frames by coupling an ornamental frame to section bars by means of pivoting fastening hidden members. Next, the frame-section bar assembly is secured to the inner face of the door or window frame by means of a device which is the object of another patent application of the same applicant.

Description

System for fitting ornamental frames to section bars to be coupled to door or window frames by pivoting hidden members
Door or window frames having decorations painted or applied to supports consisting of a variety of materials and secured to said door or window frames by glue or screws are even more requested by interior decorators and architects.
Other systems disclosed in several patents are also known. Among those Patents, EP-A-04825753, EP-A- 0425753 having the drawback that the decoration is not interchangeable and the corners are critical should be mentioned.
The are also known systems providing a frame having a recess in the decoration application face to receive a snap-connected channel in which the decoration is fitted. The decoration should be fitted into the channel length by length.
The present patent application for industrial invention aims at providing a decoration applicable to a typical door or window frame which does not need any recess in its surface to receive the support of the decoration.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a system in which the securing means of the decoration to the visible surface is hidden. A last but not least object of the invention is to provide a system allowing the whole decorated frame to be applied by only one operation. These and other objects are accomplished by the solution proposed by the invention of the present patent application.
The solution consists of a preferably wooden frame on the face of which the decoration is painted or applied through a paper, plastic or leather support which is secured to the frame.
This frame has on the inner side a shaped recess to receive at intervals the head of a fastening member, the so-called "accessory". A supplementing section bar, preferably of aluminium, has spaced apart holes in which the "accessory" is inserted.
The accessory has the function of securing the wooden member or decorative frame to the aluminium section bar which will the be fastened by a second accessory to the door or window frame at its inner side.
The second accessory securing an aluminium or wooden member to the inner surface of a door or window frame is the object of a patent application of the applicant of the present invention.
The shape of the accessory, its function and the application system will be more readily understood with reference to the accompanying drawings given only by way of an illustrative, not limiting example.
Figs. 1, 2, 3 and 4 of table 1/7 show the accessory and its three views.
Figs. 5 and 6 of table 2/7 show the frame of wood or other suitable material to which the decoration is directly applied or a support of said decoration is glued .
Figs. 7 and 8 of table 3/7 show the aluminium section bar to which the frame is applied, said section bar being then fastened to the inner face of the door or window frame.
Figs. 9, 10 and 11 of table 4/7 show the application steps of the two section bars, and Figs. 12, 13 and 14 show the axonometric views of said sections .
Figs. 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 of table 5/7 show the decorated section bar coupled to the aluminium support by the accessory operated by a suitable key.
Fig. 21 of table 6/7 shows the accessory and Fig. 22 shows the section of the coupling means .
Figs. 23 and 24 of table 7/7 show the whole frame with decoration and an enlarged section at a corner, respectively.
With reference to the figures the coupling accessory includes a head 1 having hexagonal longitudinal and cross sections, and a cylindrical body 2 with an intermediate bracket 3 with hexagonal longitudinal section. Cylindrical body 4 after said intermediate bracket ends in a circular widened head 5 having a hexagonal hole 6 to receive a suitable box wrench 8 at its centre.
The upper face 7 of the bracket is slightly raised for a better grip as it is rotated towards the section bar carrying the decoration, as explained below. A recess 10 is formed in the L-shaped frame 9 all over the length of the latter at the border of the shorter side thereof. Shape and size of said recess are such as to receive head 1 of the accessory.
The support of aluminium or other material to which frame 9 of wood or other material is secured consists of C-shaped section bar 11 provided with an about central longitudinal recess the shape of the cross section of which is such as to allow to be coupled with the door or window frame through a suitable means which is the object of another patent application. One flange of said C-shaped section bar 11 has an extension. Both flanges end in a hook 12.
Said section bar has spaced apart holes 14 at its extrados 13. The size of said holes is such as to allow head 1 of the accessory to be secured thereto. According to what disclosed and illustrated above the coupling of the decorated frame with the support is carried out as follows:
» arranging the frame with its back on a resting plane (Table 4/7) ;
■ overlapping the support section bar (Table 4/7); ■ inserting spaced apart accessories into respective holes 14 formed at locations corresponding to recess 10 (Table 4/7);
■ rotating the accessories by 90° by hexagonal box wrench (Table 5/7) . Thus the frame is secured to the support of aluminium with the interposition of the walls of the accessory. The shape of the accessory is such that the support of aluminium is placed between circular head 5 and bracket 3 while the wooden frame abuts against bracket
3 and is blocked by hexagonal head 1.
Thus, a perfect coupling between the decorated frame and the support can be carried out by a simple and fast operation.
The proposed solution allows the frame to be easily interchangeable so that the coupling disclosed can be brought about for any type of door and window frame of wood, PVC or aluminium by means of fastening means which is the object of another patent application.
The decoration is applied in one piece to the frame.
Shape and structural changes may be made to the solution disclosed within the scope of the same inventive concept which is defined by the appended claims .
