Detailed Description: Outer Knob assembly 1 which consists of Knob 1a, Knob Plate 1b and Lock Washer 1c is mounted on door 2 by screws at door surface S1 See Fig 6.
The Outer Knob assembly having spline nut 1S1 is engaged with projected out spline 4S1 of Rotating Housing 4. Which that is pre-assembled with Upper Cover 3 as shown in figs 3, 6 & 7.
Spacer 10 is placed between Bush 9 and End Cover Guide 11 and screwed by Cylinder Screw 12 to the Cylinder 6. Compression Spring 8 is inserted in Bush 9 and Push Pin 7 is retained by Cylinder 6. Thus the spring force is coming on pin collar 7(a). This complete assembly is placed in Rotating Housing 4. We call this Assembly 2 See Figs 5a & 7.
Assembly 2 is mounted on face 14S1 of Master Plate 14 by screwing. This Master Plate is mounted oh Upper Cover 3 by screwing on surface 3S1 so that Assembly 2 comes out from hole 3H1 towards the surface 3S2 of Upper Cover 3. A Rotating Housing spring 21 connects the pin 4P3 with the Upper Cover 3 in such a way that when Rotating Housing 4 is rotated the spring expands and brings the Rotating Housing back to its position when the rotating force is withdrawn. An Outer Knob Locking Cam 15 has a slot 15H2 which is guided by rivet 3P2 of Upper Cover3 and a slot 15H1 which is guided by rivet 3P1 of Upper Cover 3. Outer knob locking cam slides on surface 3S1 of Upper Cover 3 it also has a threaded pin 15a which facilitates the mounting of Threaded Knob 29 & an extended portion 15L1 . We call this Assembly 3 See Figs 5a, 5b, 6, 7 & 8.
Pin 4P1 of Rotating Housing 4 is engaged with slot 13H2 in Latch Actuator 13. Latch Actuator 13 having Tenon 13T1 is engaged with slot 17H2 of Latch17. Latch actuator13 has a slot 13H1 which is guided by rivet 3P3 of Upper Cover 3. A Rotating Housing Spring 21 is connected with Pin 4P3 of Rotating Housing 4 & Upper cover 3. On rotation of Rotating Housing 4 by Knob 1 , pin 4P1 gives reciprocating moves to Latch Actuator13 which slides back on surface 3S1 of Upper Cover 3. This movement of Latch Actuator13 pulls Latch17 in the Main Frame 25 against the spring force of Latch Spring 16. When the applied force on Knob 1 is removed the spring force of Rotating Housing Spring 21 causes then Rotating Housing to rotate back. The spring force of Latch Spring 16 also causes the Latch 17 to slide back outside the Main Frame 25. See Figs 2,5a, 5b, 8 & 10
The cylindrical portion 17(a) of Latch 17 moves in hole25H3 of Main Frame 25; the Latch 17 slides on surface 25S2 of Main Frame 25; a Spring 16 is assembled on Main Frame 25 and exerts push force on Latch 17 so it stays extended from Main Frame 25 when retraction is not required. A Master Cam 20 rotates on surface 25S2 of Main Frame 25 such that a square portion of Master Cam 20a passes through hole25H1 of Main Frame 25. A bolt 19 slides on Master Cam 20 such that the bolt surfaces 19S1 & 19S2 are in contact with pin 20P1 of Master Cam and when the Master Cam rotates it slides the bolt 19 and the cylindrical portions 19a of bolt 19 to slide in & out of holes 25H4 of Main Frame 25. Spring-loaded Bolt Cam 18 is assembled on Bolt 19 & it facilitates the Bolt Assembly to achieve the desired motion of mechanism. We call it Assembly 4 see Figs 5b, 9, 10, & 11.
Inner knob 27 having blind square hole 27H1 at its center is matching with square portion 20a of rod in Master Cam 20. This square portion of Master Cam passes through hole25H1 of Main Frame 25 and retained by Washer 26 to the side of surface 25S1 of Main Frame 25. Inner knob 27 is also screwed with Master Cam 20 by screw 28 through square rod portion 20a of Master Cam 20. See Figs 9, 11, & 12.
Threaded Knob 29 is screwed with Threaded Nut 15a of Outer Knob Locking Cam 15 by its Threaded Portion 29a. Threaded Knob 29 is guided in Slot 25H2 of Main Frame 25 & it moves on Surface 25S1 of Main Frame 25. This Outer Knob Locking Cam 15 slides on Surface 3S1 of Cover 3. The motion of Cam 15 is guided by retaining the slot 15H1 with Shouldered Pin 3p1 of upper cover 3. Outer Knob Locking Cam 15 is actuated by Threaded Knob 29. When Threaded Knob 29 moves forward the Extended Portion 15L1 of Outer Knob Locking Cam 15 gets engage with Pin 4P2 of Rotating Housing 4. It locks the rotation of Outer Knob assembly 1. When the Threaded Knob 29 is retracted backward the extended portion 15L1 gets disengaged with pin 4P2 of Rotating Housing and it allows the rotation of Outer Knob Assembly 1. See Figs 5a, 7, 8 & 11.
When Key 5 is inserted in Cylinder 6 it pushes the Push Pin 7 engaged in Cylinder 6. Surface 7S1 of Push Pin 7 matched with slot 20H2 of Master Cam 20. When the Key 5 is rotated it also rotates Push Pin 7 & Master Cam 20. A bolt 19 slides on Master Cam 20 such that the bolt surfaces 19S1 & 19S2 are in contact with Pin 20P1 of Master Cam 20 and when the Master Cam 20 rotates it slides the Bolt 19 & the cylindrical portions 19a of Bolt 19 to slide in & out of holes 25H4 of Main Frame 25. Spring-loaded Bolt Cam 18 is assembled on Bolt 19 & it facilitates the Bolt Assembly to achieve the desired motion. When the Bolt 19 is retracted in the Main Frame 25 a further rotation of the Key 5 causes the Master Cam surface 2OS 1 to come in contact & push the Latch Surface 17S1. This causes the Latch 17 to slide in the Main Frame 25 against the force of Latch Spring16. When the applied force on key is removed the spring force of Bolt Cam 18 causes Master Cam to rotate back & Master Cam 20 releases the Latch. The spring force of Latch Spring 16 causes the Latch 17 to slide back outside the Main Frame 25. See Figs3, 5a, 5b, 7, 9 & 10. When the Latch 17 comes inwards in Main Frame 25 by actuation of Outer Knob Assembly 1 and at this position Threaded Knob 29 is actuated forward; The surface 15S1 of extended portion 15L1 of Outer Knob Locking Cam 15 which is connected to Threaded Knob 29 gets engaged with Pin 4P2 of Rotation Housing 4, causing the Latch 17 to stay in its retracted position inside Main Frame 25. Actuation of Threaded Knob 29 back causes the portion 15L1 to release pin 4P1 & Latch 17 gets released from Main Frame 25. See Figs 3, 5a, 5b, 7, & 8.
Pin Cylinder 30 is added to lock all the other operations of locking system. A Cam 22 is attached with the Pin Cylinder 30. Pin Cylinder 30 is assembled in the housing of Inner Plate 24 by screwing the Pin Cylinder 30 comes out of hole25H5 of Main Frame 25. This Inner Plate 24 is fixed between Main Frame 25 and Cover 3 See Figs 12, 13, 14.
Master Cam Jammer 23 moves between Inner Plate 24 in Main Frame 25 and guided by slots 24H1 and 24H2 in Inner Plate 24. As Cylinder 30 is operated, Cam 22 attached with it rotates and its Extended Portion 22 L actuates the Master Cam Jammer 23 through its surface 23S1. Extended Portion 23L gets engaged in Slot 2OH of Master Cam 20 & prevents its rotation and prevents all the functioning of assemblies 3 & 4. Upon unlocking the Cylinder 30 the Master Cam Jammer 23 is retracted by rotation of Cam 22 and the Master Cam 20 is free to rotate. See Figs 13, 14, 5b,
Referring to fig 1 , it has the isometric view of invention installed on door 2. It contains Main Frame 25 at inner side of door & outer knob assembly 1 on the outer side of door. Spring 21 ,. one end fixed with Upper Cover 3 and other end with pin 4P3 of Rotating Housing 4 returns the Rotating Housing 4 at its original position as it is rotated. Outer Knob Locking Cam 15 restricts the rotation of Rotating Housing 4 as it is engaged with pin 4P2 of Rotating
Housing 4.
Fig. 5b refers front & side view of lower half assembly. Latch Spring 16 returns the Latch 17 to its original position, when it is pulled inward. Inner Plate 24 provides the housing for Master Cam Jammer 23 and small Pin Cylinder 30 actuates Master Cam Jammer 23 to restrict the rotation of Master Cam 20. To make free the rotation of Master Cam 20, Pin Cylinder 30 is reverse operated.
OPERATIONS
On rotation of Inner Knob 27 the Master Cam 20 engaged with it rotates in hole25H1 of Main Frame 25. Pin 20P1 of Master Cam 20 tangentially applies force on surface 19S1 or 19S2 of Bolt 19 moving the Bolt 19 outwards or inwards of the Main Frame 25. Simultaneously Pin 2OP 1 also moves the spring-loaded Bolt Cam 18 at its pivoted hotel 8H1 to store spring force. This stored force helps the Bolt 19 to move easily.
When Bolt 19 comes inwards; yet further rotation of Master Cam 20 its surface 2OS 1 pushes the Surface 17S1 of Latch 17 inwards causing the Latch 17 to come inwards in Main Frame 25. Spring 16 gets compressed as portion 16E1 is forced by surface 17S2 of Latch 17. After the release of pressure from Master Cam 20 the Spring 16 causes the Latch 17 to move outward to its original position.
When Bolt 19 is in outwards position its surface 19S3 comes in the path of Latch 17 and restricts the Latch 17 to come inwards in Main Frame 25. Latch Actuator 13 is designed to operate parallel to movement of Latch 17. Latch Actuator 13 moves on Surface 3S1 of Upper Cover 3 & it is actuated by Outer Knob Assembly 1.
When the Latch 17 comes inwards in Main Frame 25 by actuation of Outer Knob Assembly 1 and at this position Threaded Knob 29 is actuated forward; The Extended Portion 15L1 of Outer Knob Locking Cam 15 which is connected to Threaded Knob 29 gets engaged with Pin 4P2 of Rotation Housing 4, causing the Latch 17 to stay in its retracted position inside Main Frame 25. Actuation of Threaded Knob 29 back causes the portion 15L1 to release pin 4P1 & latch 17 gets released from Main Frame 25. When the bolt is in the Main Frame 25 a further rotation of the Key 5 causes the Master Cam 20's surface 20S1 to come in contact & push the latch surface 17S1. This causes the latch to slide in the Main Frame 25 against the force of Latch Spring 16. When the applied force on Key 5 is removed the spring force of Bolt Cam 18 causes Master Cam 20 to rotate back & Master Cam 20 releases the Latch 17 & spring force of Latch Spring 16 causes the Latch 17 to slide back outside the Main Frame 25.
Threaded Knob 29 is actuated to prevent the rotation of Outer Knob 1a. As Threaded Knob 29 is actuated forward; portion 15a of Outer Knob Locking Cam 15 also moves on Surface 3S1 of Upper Cover 3. The extended portion 15L1 of Outer Knob Locking Cam 15 gets engaged with Pin 4P2 of Rotation Housing 4, causing the jamming of Outer Knob Rotation. Now latch 17 cannot be retracted inward to the Main Frame 25 through Outer Knob Assembly 1; but at this stage the Latch 17 can be operated by Key 5 and Inner Knob 27. To free the movement of Latch 17 through Outer Knob 1a the Knob 29 is actuated backward causing the Outer Knob Locking Cam 15 to disengage from Pin 4P2 of Rotation Housing 4.
An extra locking system is added to lock all the other operations of locking system by jamming the Master Cam 20 from inside. This system has Pin cylinder 30, Cam 22 and Master Cam Jammer 23. Master Cam Jammer 23 moves between Inner Plate 24 in Main Frame 25 and is guided by Slots 24H1 & 24H2. As Pin Cylinder 30 is operated by its Key 30a; Cam 22 attached with Cylinder 30 rotates and its extended portion 22L actuates the Main Cam Jammer 23 by pushing Surface 23S1 forward. Forward movement of Main Cam Jammer 23 causes its extended portion 23L to engage in Slot 2OH of Master Cam 20 & stopping its rotation. To free the rotation of Master Cam 20, Pin cylinder 30 has to be operated by its Key 30a in reverse direction causing the Extended Portion 22L of Cam to retract the Master Cam Jammer back and disengages it from Master Cam 20. Now Master Cam 20 is free to rotate.
The locking chain 37 is an extra security of the Door 2 and Door Frame. The locking chain 37 is fitted on Striker Plate 36. Striker Plate 36 is fitted on Door Frame with wooden screw. This locking chain prevents any unwanted forced entry when the latch is opened. To actuate the security chain surface 37S1 of Locking Chain 37 is inserted in slot 25H6 of Main Frame 25. This security chain 37 when restrict the opening of the door and so prevents any forced entry. /
