Abstract

Ein qualitätsskalierbares Videosignal (100) mit einem unter Verwendung zeitlicher Prädiktion codierten Basissignal (102) mit einer Basisqualität, aus dem aus sich allein heraus das qualitätsskalierbare Videosignal (100) mit einer Basisqualität rekonstruierbar ist, und das einen ersten zeitlichen Wiederholabstand (T1) von intra-codierten Bildern (106) aufweist, und einem unter Verwendung zeitlicher Prädiktion codierten Verbesserungssignal (104), aus dem in Kombination mit dem Basissignal (102) das qualitätsskalierbare Signal (100) mit einer verbesserten Qualität rekonstruierbar ist, und das einen zweiten zeitlichen Wiederholabstand (T2) von intra-codierten Bildern (110) aufweist, wobei der erste zeitliche Wiederholabstand (T1) kleiner als der zweite zeitliche Wiederholabstand (T2) ist.
