Abstract

An input device for reducing the time required to select desired medium data has a circular rotating body (5) operated by the user and an information storage device (27) for storing an information group and is adapted so that predetermined information is selected from the information group depending on the amount of movement to the circumferential direction of the rotating body (5) or the amount of the movement to the circumferential direction of a contact position to the rotating body (5) of the user. The input device comprises a contact sensor (10) for performing the output appropriate for the contact position to the rotating body (5) of the user, an aim data setter (23) for setting aim data on the basis of the output appropriate for the contact position from the contact sensor (10), and a first information selector (24) for selecting information having the aim data corresponding to the contact position to the rotating body (5) of the user detected in the contact sensor (10) from the information group on the basis of the aim data as an attribute.
