Abstract
A method of monitoring for a long time a living sample using luminescence from a photoprotein which is characterized by comprising transferring a photoprotein appropriate for the item to be monitored into the sample under such treating conditions as not injuring the biological activity thereof, chemically inducing the luminescence with the use of a substrate component, continuously inducing the luminescence and picking images thereof during a desired monitoring period, thus acquiring a plural number of optical images corresponding to different times under image-picking conditions determined depending on the treating conditions as described above, and indicating these optical images under output conditions depending on the image-picking conditions as described above.
