Abstract

Provided is an article which can be worn about the back of a person, as a backpack, to carry various and sundry items associated with outdoor recreation, to a location at which persons desire to travel. An article according to the disclosure simultaneously provides a floor that can be spread across the ground, a canopy support, and canopy that shelters the floor from overhead weather elements, including sun and rain. In a preferred embodiment, the floor and canopy are integral with the backpack itself. The sheltered environments provided by such article can be setup in a very short time to shield its user(s) from the effects of sun, rain, and other environmental elements, hi some embodiments, the floor portion includes at least one cushion for seating attached thereto.
