Description

Description
DOOR HINGE ALLOWING THAT MOUNTING GROOVE IS UNNECESSARY ON DOOR AND FRAME
Technical Field
[1] The present invention relates to a door hinge, which does not require mounting recesses in a door and doorframe, and more particularly, to a door hinge, which can be installed to a door and doorframe without forming mounting recesses in the door and doorframe while assuring easy opening and closing operations of the door and preventing generation of noise when the door is opened or closed. Background Art
[2] A Hinge is an essential component of fireproof doors as well as general doors, and various designs of hinges are being developed in consideration of configurations and functions of such doors.
[3] As one example of the prior art, Korean Paten Publication No. 292540 discloses a hinge including: a U-shaped steel-made doorframe piece to be installed to a doorframe; a steel-made door piece to be installed to a door, the door piece being configured to be inserted into an opening of the U-shaped doorframe piece; cylindrical shaft connecting portions formed at facing ends of the door and doorframe pieces and pivotally rotatably connected with each other by means of a shaft pin inserted therethrough; a plurality of screw holes perforated in the door and doorframe coupling pieces; positioning protrusions provided at upper and lower positions of the door and doorframe coupling pieces adjacent to the shaft connecting portions thereof and configured to be caught by outer surfaces of the door and door frame; and hinge caps press-fitted into the upper and lower shaft connecting portions of the doorframe piece.
[4] Also, as another example of the prior art, Korean Utility Model Application No.
2005-0018169 discloses a door hinge having a stopper to limit the opening degree of a door. In the door hinge disclosed in the above Application, stopper protrusions for limiting the opening degree of a door are formed at outer circumferences of first and second bushings, which are fitted around a shaft pin and located between upper and lower shaft bores of a doorframe bracket and upper and lower ends of a shaft bore of a door bracket. The disclosed door hinge has the effect of preventing a door knob from colliding with a wall.
[5] Although the disclosed conventional hinge has an advantageous configuration capable of limiting the opening degree of a door, it does not achieve a sufficient structural integrity to withstand a heavy door and generates noise when the door is opened or closed. [6] Furthermore, to install the conventional hinge, it is necessary to form hinge mounting recesses in a door and doorframe by cutting or other machining operations. Also, the hinge mounting recesses of the door and doorframe may cause a decline in the material strength of the door and doorframe since they are easily damaged or worn. Disclosure of Invention Technical Problem
[7] Therefore, the present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and it is an object of the present invention to provide a door hinge, which does not require mounting recesses in a door and doorframe and can achieve convenient fabrication and installation advantages.
[8] It is another object of the present invention to provide a door hinge to assure easy opening and closing operations of a heavy door.
[9] It is a further object of the present invention to provide a door hinge, which does not require mounting recesses in a door and doorframe and can achieve a sufficient force to support even a heavy door. Technical Solution
[10] In accordance with the present invention, the above and other objects can be accomplished by the provision of a door hinge, which does not require mounting recesses in a door and doorframe, comprising: an inner door bracket having a positioning pole integrally formed at an end thereof with a spacer; and an outer door bracket having a receiving opening to allow the inner door bracket to be inserted therein, and a reinforcing pole having a rotation- allowance opening, wherein the inner and outer door brackets are installed to a door and doorframe, respectively, after being coupled with each other by fitting of a shaft pin, ring-shaped bushings, and bearings.
[11] Preferably, the inner and outer door brackets have a plurality of fastening holes perforated therein, and each fastening hole is formed with spikes along an edge thereof that will come into close contact with the door or doorframe. As a result, the door hinge does not require separate hinge mounting recesses in the door and doorframe.
Advantageous Effects
[12] As apparent from the above description, the present invention provides a door hinge, which can be easily installed to a door and doorframe without separate mounting recesses in the door and doorframe. The door hinge of the present invention is applicable to all kinds of doors including fireproof and soundproof doors, wooden and metallic doors, and general room and office doors.
[13] In addition, according to the present invention, as a result of allowing a positioning hole and reinforcing hole provided at inner and outer door brackets of the door hinge to come into close contact with corner surfaces of a door and doorframe so as to conceal junctions with respect to shaft pin connecting portions of the inner and outer door brackets from view, the door hinge can achieve an aesthetically pleasing external appearance. In conclusion, the present invention is of utmost utility in the construction industry.
Brief Description of the Drawings [14] The above and other objects, features and other advantages of the present invention will be more clearly understood from the following detailed description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, in which: [15] FIG. 1 is a perspective view illustrating a door hinge according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention, which does not require mounting recesses in a door and doorframe;
[16] FIG. 2 is a front view illustrating a spread state of the door hinge shown in FIG. 1;
[17] FIG. 3 is a front view illustrating a folded state of the door hinge shown in FIG. 1;
[18] FIG. 4 is a sectional view of the door hinge shown in FIG. 1;
[19] FIG. 5 is an exploded perspective view of the door hinge shown in FIG. 1;
[20] FIG. 6 is a perspective view illustrating a door hinge according to another embodiment of the present invention, which does not require mounting recesses in a door and doorframe; and [21] FIG. 7 is a perspective view of the door hinge shown in FIG. 6.
Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention [22] Now, a door hinge according to preferred embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the accompanying drawings. The door hinge according to the present invention has a feature of not requiring mounting recesses in a door and doorframe. [23] As shown in FIGS. 1 to 5, the door hinge according to the present invention is configured in such a manner that it includes a door bracket and doorframe bracket, which are integrally coupled with each other to achieve a strength sufficient to withstand the weight of a door upon opening and closing operations of the door.
Hereinafter, the door bracket is referred to as an inner door bracket 50, and the doorframe bracket is referred to as an outer door bracket 100. The door hinge according to the present invention can be installed to a door and doorframe without requiring hinge mounting recesses in the door and doorframe. [24] The inner and outer door brackets 50 and 100 also have cylindrical shaft pin connecting portions, through which a shaft pin 200 is closely inserted. [25] Specifically, to assemble the inner and outer door brackets 50 and 100, the shaft pin
200 is inserted through the shaft pin connecting portions of the inner and outer door brackets 50 and 100 such that ring-shaped bushings 90 are interposed between the shaft pin connecting portion of the inner door bracket 50 and the upper and lower shaft pin connecting portions of the outer door bracket 100. Here, the ring-shaped bushings 90 may be replaced by ball-bearings.
[26] As a result of coupling the inner and outer door brackets 50 and 100 with each other about the shaft pin 200 by interposing the ring-shaped bushings 90 at junctions between the inner and outer door brackets 50 and 100, the above described configuration has an effect of attenuating the generation of frictional force and consequently, the risk of abrasion.
[27] The inner door bracket 50 features a positioning pole 40, which is configured in such a manner that the positioning pole 40 has the same length as the shaft pin 200 and upper and lower portions of the positioning pole 40, protruding upward and downward from the remaining portion of the inner door bracket 50, come into contact with the outer door bracket 100 after the inner and outer door brackets 50 and 100 are completely coupled with each other. Once the door hinge of the present invention is installed to the door and doorframe, the positioning pole 40 comes into close contact with a corner surface of the door. As a result, the inner door bracket 50 can be installed to come into close contact with the door without a separate mounting position setting operation.
[28] With the above-described configuration according to the present invention, the inner and outer door brackets 50 and 100 of the door hinge can be easily installed to the door and doorframe as the positioning pole 40 of the inner door bracket 50 comes into close contact with the corner surface of the door without any difficulty related to precisely setting bracket installation positions and determining the protruding degree of the shaft pin.
[29] Accordingly, the door hinge, having the above-described configuration according to the present invention, can achieve not only an aesthetically pleasing external appearance of an installation portion thereof, but also a firm and stable coupling surface as a result of concealing a support of the shaft pin from view. In addition, the door hinge can enhance a structural integrity by virtue of an enlarged supporting area between the inner door bracket 50 and the corner surface of the door.
[30] The outer door bracket 100 features a reinforcing pole 60, which is configured in such a manner that the reinforcing pole 60 has the same length as the shaft pin 200 to continuously extend vertically and defines the rotation-allowance opening 70 at a portion thereof in contact with the inner door bracket 50.
[31] With the above described configuration, when the outer door bracket 100 is installed to the doorframe, the reinforcing pole 60 can come into close contact with the doorframe so as to conceal the shaft pin 20 from view, thereby achieving an aesthetically pleasing external appearance. [32] As will be understood from FIG. 5 illustrating an exploded perspective view of the door hinge which does not require mounting recesses in the door and doorframe according to the present invention, the inner door bracket 50 features that it has a s pacer formed at the positioning pole 40 by cutting and the cylindrical shaft pin connecting portion for insertion of the shaft pin 200, and the outer door bracket 100 features that it has a receiving opening 10 to allow the inner door bracket 50 to be inserted therein and the rotation- allowance opening 70 of the reinforcing pole 60 is formed after forming the shaft pin connecting portion for insertion of the shaft pin 200.
[33] Referring to FIG. 4 illustrating the door hinge installed to the door and doorframe, the door hinge according to the present invention features the positioning pole 40 and reinforcing pole 60, which come into close contact with corner surfaces of the door and doorframe when the inner and outer door brackets 50 and 100 are installed to the door and doorframe without requiring mounting recesses in the door and doorframe.
[34] Although one embodiment of the present invention has been described above, it will be understood that various alternations and modifications are possible according to various patterns and shapes of the door hinge.
[35] FIGS. 6 and 7 illustrate a door hinge according to another embodiment of the present invention, which does not require mounting recesses in a door and doorframe. The door hinge of the present embodiment features spikes 130 formed at a plurality of fastening holes 20 perforated in the inner and outer door brackets 50 and 100 along an inner periphery of each hole 20 that will come into close contact with the door or doorframe. Here, the fastening holes 50 are used to attach the door hinge to the door and doorframe as fasteners 50- 1 are inserted therethrough. In addition, additional spikes 140 are formed at distal ends of the inner and outer door brackets 50 and 100 opposite to the shaft pin connecting portions. As the spikes 130 and 140 of the inner and outer door brackets 50 and 100 are embedded into the door and doorframe, the present embodiment has the effect of allowing the door hinge to be easily installed to the door and doorframe and preventing the installed door hinge from being unintentionally separated from the door and doorframe.
[36] Although the preferred embodiments of the present invention have been disclosed for illustrative purposes, these embodiments are merely provided by way of examples, and the present invention is applicable to linear or angled door hinges, and those skilled in the art will appreciate that various modifications, additions and substitutions are possible, without departing from the scope and spirit of the invention as disclosed in the accompanying claims.
