Abstract

There has been such a problem of significant resolution deterioration when a flat image is viewed through conventional lenticular lenses, as only a part of the flat image in the view direction is viewed. An image display device is provided with an image surface, a first panel whereupon a concave lens array is formed on one surface, and a second panel whereupon a convex lens array is formed on one surface. The image surface, the first panel and the second panel are arranged in this order, the convex lens and the concave lens face each other, a three-dimensional image is displayed by arranging the first panel and the second panel at a prescribed interval, and a flat image is displayed by bringing the first panel and the second panel into contact with or in proximity to each other. Thus, the image display device which can switch an image to and from a flat image and a three-dimensional image is provided.
