Abstract
A device for saying the Rosary during the driving of a vehicle, constituted by a support body (1) having arched shape mimicking the shape of the steering wheel with elastic tines (2) adaptable to the rim of the steering wheel for fastening the support body (1) to the steering wheel and with the support body (1) constructed according to a pair of elements of different length, provided with cavities (3) shaped to receive pins (4) having in the lower part bulbs (5) so that the pivot pins (4) can be rotate and maintain a stable position and having in the upper part of the pins (4) tab-shaped projecting parts (6) to be rotated according to the prayers or to the sets of prayers said.
Description
DEVICE FOR SAYING THE ROSARY DURING THE DRIVING OF A VEHICLE.
TECHNICAL FIELD AND BACKGROUND ART.
Many Roman Catholics have the custom of saying the Rosary whilst driving vehicles. Generally, a set of beads is placed near the shifting lever of the vehicle or the set of beads is hung from any part inside the passenger compartment or held on the driver's legs. The devotion of the Rosary consists of saying three sets of five tens of prayers of fifty Hail Marys, each preceded by an Our Father, by a Glory Be and by one of the mysteries, using a set of beads passed between the fingers to keep count, advancing one bead after saying each prayer to remember how many prayers have been said. However, the manner of performing this practice entails removing at some instants one's hand from the steering wheel or driving with a single hand on the steering wheel. This practice thus entails some hazardous elements, given by not having one's hands on the steering wheel.
DISCLOSURE OF THE INVENTION.
The object of the invention is a device that is able to allow saying the Rosary whilst driving the vehicle, keeping one's hand on the steering wheel and keeping count of how many prayers have been said. The invention is also capable of adapting to any kind of steering wheel and in any driving condition, because it enables not to lose count of the prayers said even after rounding one or more bends and hence after one's hands have assumed different positions on the steering wheel. Moreover, it is not a dangerous object in case of accident and it does not interfere with any device of the vehicle. In other cases, Roman
Catholics say the Rosary by memory whilst driving the vehicle. The invention facilitates saying the Rosary, maintaining safety whilst driving the vehicle. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS.
The invention is shown, purely by way of non limiting indication, in Tables 1, 2, 3 and 4. In Table 1, figure 1 is a front view of one of the two devices for saying the Rosary. In particular, said figure 1 is a view of a part of the device for numbering the prayers. Figure 2 is a cross section view of a part of the device for numbering the prayers. Figure 3 is a partial view of the device relating to the counting of the set of prayers. Figure 4 is a longitudinal partial view of the device.
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION. In Table 2, figure 5 is a front view of the additional embodiment of part of the device. Figure 6 is a cross section view of the device for numbering the prayers. Figure 7 is a front view of the device for keeping count of the set of prayers. Figure 8 is a longitudinal section view of the device for keeping count of the set of prayers. In Table 3, figure 9 is a perspective view of an additional embodiment, hi Table 4, figure 10 is a perspective view of an additional embodiment with Velcro fastening parts during the step of installation to the steering wheel. The object of the invention in a non exclusive embodiment is constituted by a support body 1 having arched shape, mimicking the shape of the steering wheel, with elastic tines 2 adaptable to the rim of the steering wheel, in such a way as to fasten the support body 1 to the inner part of the steering wheel. The support body 1, obtained according to a pair of elements of different length, is provided with cavities 3 shaped to receive pins 4, having in the lower part bulbs 5, in order to remain in stable vertical position and allow the rotation
of each pin 4 without departing from the seat. By virtue of the lower elastic part of the pins 4 made of plastic materials, the bulbs 5 are inserted by pressure into the corresponding cavities 3. The bulb 5 and the cavity 3 have reduced tolerances, to promote maintaining the position reached after the rotation. To make it easy to rotate the pins and enable counting the prayers, said pins 4 are superiorly provided with tab-shaped projecting parts 6. The tab of the projecting part is initially positioned with its direction parallel to the circumference of the steering wheel and it is rotated transversely, i.e. in radial direction, by the driver's thumb after completing a prayer. The support body 1, obtained according to a pair of elements with different lengths, is provided with ten cavities 3 and consequently with ten projecting parts 6 rotatable on the support body 1 to be used by the left hand and with five cavities 3 with five projecting parts 6 rotatable on the pins positions in the support body 1 able to be used by the right hand. During utilisation, the object of the invention is applied to the steering wheel by means of the tines 2 with the arrangement of the tab-shaped projecting parts 6 positioned along the direction of the circumference of the steering wheel. To align the parts 6 along this position, it is sufficient to pass one's thumb along the rim of the steering wheel. After saying a prayer of the Rosary, the tabs 6, which remain in the set position, are rotated with a thumb. The rotation of the tabs is performed with the left hand for the prayers, whilst with the right hand are rotated the tabs 6 for the set of prayers, similarly to what is done with a set of beads. In this way, even when driving around bends or conducting other manoeuvres, the driver is still able to realise how many prayers (s)he has said counting with his/her thumb how many tabs 6 have been turned and then resume saying the rosary from that point. After completing the saying
of the Rosary, the tabs 6 are aligned along the circumference of the steering wheel to be used for a new session of saying the Rosary. In an another embodiment, the tines 2 are replaced by Velcro strips 7, for fastening the support bodies 1 positioned on fabric 8 and rubber part 9 with cavities 3 in which are positioned the pins 4 with bulb 5 and external tabs 6. In this case, too, the bulbs 5 are inserted by pressure into the corresponding cavities 3, enabling the rotation of the pins 4 and preventing through the bulbs 5 the pins 4 from departing from the seats, hi an additional, particularly simple embodiment, the invention is constructed without tab-shaped projecting parts 6, but only with raised parts 10 where the pins 4 were previously positioned. Therefore, there are ten projections for the prayers on the support body 1 and five projections on the other support body 1 for the prayer sets. The anchoring of the support body 1 to the steering wheel can be positioned in the inner part of the steering wheel with a system that does not provide for the application of elastic tines 2 or transverse Velcro strips, but still adheres well to the steering wheel because it is provided with longitudinal Velcro strips 11 fastened in the inner part of the steering wheel 12 and in the outer part 13 of the support body 1 or, in equivalent form, with adhesive materials or the like positioned directly on the contact surfaces of the support body and of the steering wheel. In use, the prayers and the sets of prayers are number by progressively placing one's thumbs or fingers on the projecting parts for the prayers that have been said. The invention thus conceived can be subject to numerous modifications and variants based on the needs of use, without thereby departing from the inventive concept. Moreover, all details can be replaced with technically equivalent others.
