Abstract

 サービスエリアが一部重複している第1及び第2の通信方式で通信可能な移動通信方法及び装置において、移動局の消費電力をより低減するため、該第1の通信方式による通信中に受信する情報から、移動局が、該第1の通信方式のサービスエリア端に位置するか否かを判定する。該サービスエリア端に位置すると判定した時、該第2の通信方式でも通信開始可能な状態にする。また、この後、該第2の通信方式で通信可能な基地局を探索した時、該基地局へのハンドオーバを実行する。該ハンドオーバの実行後、該第2の通信方式による通信中に受信する情報から、移動局が、該第2の通信方式のサービスエリア端に位置するか否かを判定する。該第2の通信方式のサービスエリア端に位置しないと判定した時、該第1の通信方式による通信を停止状態にする。
