Abstract

Portable shoe and pant covers, without soles, to be worn by pedestrians; or with a half-sole (5 and 6), meant for motorcyclists; or with a sole only to attach the shoe tip to and a strap (3) that goes under the shoe, in the space near the heel - adequate for both pedestrians and motorcyclists. They can be of different lengths and have openings along their entirety in order to make them easy to be put on and taken off and adjustable to different sizes and models of shoes. They should preferably be closed by Velcro (7) placed horizontally and with excess. They consist of a piece that wraps around the leg (1), and another that wraps around the foot (2), they can be attached or worn separately. Strips of rubber (4) on the lower edges minimize wear and help the covers fit the shoes.

Description

"PANT AND SHOE COVER"
The current invention is characterized by covers to protect shoes and/or pant legs, they are portable, without a sole or have only part of a sole and a strap around the shoe's base, they can have openings along their entirety and are closed by strips of Velcro glued horizontally, with excess, making the covers adjustable to different sizes and models of shoes and easy to be put on and taken off.
Prior Art
Presently; when walking in the rain, people do not wear covers to protect shoes and pants, which get wet, even when they use an umbrella.
Some motorcyclists wear waterproof boots, which in certain weather conditions, cause heat and discomfort. But it is difficult to transport them, put them on and take them off, to wear them only when it rains or when riding a motorcycle.
There are boots made of malleable material to be worn over shoes. But they take up too much space and their soles are usually fragile and slippery. So much so that many motorcyclists only use plastic bags tied around their feet. The galoshes have an entire sole and do not have an opening along their entirety.
Despite not having a sole, the gaiters do not have side openings either. Therefore, they too are difficult to put on and take ofFin the street and in public.
Exposition of the Invention
The Pant and Shoe Covers are portable, as they can be made of light, malleable material.
If made with opening along their entirety, they can easily be put on and taken off, anywhere. With strips of Velcro placed horizontally, with excess, at the openings, they are adjustable to different models and sizes of shoes, and stable, even though made of light, malleable material. But they could be held shut by a variety of other mechanisms. The pant covers can be made in many different lengths: down to the calves, knees, thighs, etc.
The openings can also be placed in several locations: on the outside or inside of the legs, in the front, the back, etc.
The models made for pedestrians can be made without a sole. The models made for motorcyclists should have at least part of a sole to attach to the tip of the shoe, to avoid it rising.
The models with a sole at the tip and a strap around the sole of the foot are adequate for pedestrians as well as motorcyclists, as they are stable and can easily be put on and taken off. The shoe tip is fitted into the sole area and the strap goes under the shoe and is latched on the other side. Closed with Velcro, this strap is opened simply by a pull on the upper side of the cover.
All models can be made with strips of rubber on the lower edges, to avoid wear as they scrape on the ground and to better fit the shoe. But the sole-less model can be made of cloth that doesn't run, without rubber strips or a hem on the lower edges. The models with a half-sole need to at least have strips of rubber on the edges near the half-sole.
With waterproof pants or only needing to protect the shoes, only the shoe cover may be used.
Only the pant covers can also be used, with waterproof shoes or boots or during certain activities, as they can also be used as safety equipment, with the advantage of not producing as much heat as boots.
The pant covers are similar to gaiters. However, having openings along their entirety, they can be put on and taken off as soon as the user feels hot or cold, without the shoes having to be taken off. They can also be used for protection against humidity, snow, dust, etc. and be made of a variety of material, according to the use for which they are intended.

The Best Way to Produce this Invention
The lower edge of the piece that wraps around the leg (1) is sewn onto the rather hollow edge of the piece that wraps around the foot (2).
There are hems on the side edges of both pieces as well as on the upper edge of the piece that wraps around the leg (1). A rubber strip is sewn onto the entire lower edge of the piece that wraps around the foot (2). When sewing on this strip, it is necessary to stretch the cloth to avoid wrinkles, with exception to the part that goes around the toes, where the cloth can be loosened and allowed to subtly wrinkle. Four soft-sided strips of Velcro (7) are sewn horizontally on the right side of the edge that is under the opening, each strip is approximately 12 cm long. One strip goes on the upper edge, another in the middle of the piece that wraps around the leg (1); the other two strips go on the upper and lower edges of the piece that wraps around the foot (2). Four rough-sided strips of Velcro (7) are sewn on the inside of the overlapping edge, at the same levels as the other four strips, the two strips at the upper and lower extremities are about 5 cm long and the other two are about 2.5 cm long.
On the lower edge of the piece that wraps around the foot (2), a resistant piece of cloth is sewn near the toes; it is similar to a semicircle (6) in shape. A piece of sole is glued onto it; it is smaller and shaped similarly (5).
The piece that wraps around the leg (1) should preferably be made of lightweight, waterproof cloth, or malleable plastic. The piece that wraps around the foot (2) should be made of a denser, more resistant material, but malleable as well.
Possible Industrial Applications
A variety of models can be made for a variety of uses. The model that has a strap to go around the sole of the foot and a sole at the tip can be made aimed at the general public. The models without soles can be made for pedestrians and the models with half-soles for motorcyclists.
Other models can also be made from materials that are more resistant - as safety equipment - and from non waterproof material, to be used for protection against cold, dirt, etc.
